    • RE: How to Escape the OOC Game

To follow along with these thoughts: We're not arbiters or managers. Just because a vocal group of us dislike you doesn't mean you "aren't welcome" in the MUing hobby. We're not the be all and end all, and you don't answer to anyone else but yourself.

If you are an ISP, and you use speed throttling to restrict the use of overdue accounts (that's totally my bad)... then maybe exclude your "I Would Like To Pay My Bill Please" webpage from the throttle so I can fuckin' pay my bill.

    • RE: Getting Young Blood Into MU*'ing

There are things that are easier, faster, better written, and prettier that also don't involve interacting with other people. MUing has never been "popular" and it likely never will be. People continually conflate MSB with the MU community as a whole.

Can newer, better tools help gain people? Sure. Are we going to have thousands of people filling our servers? No.
We're not WoW Classic, we're Zork.

    • RE: Travel Connections

My main piece of advice when looking to book travel is to do so using your browser's "incognito" mode. Some places raise prices based on how often one views a certain flight or flights to a certain destination.

@mietze I'd argue it's not even an accurate representation of how we feel most of the time.

To be fair that's how I imagine @Ganymede. Not just any suits, but the suits of men she's beaten.

It's my birthday, and my youngest made breakfast in bed for me. Which was lovely.
Unfortunately, it was also served at one in the morning, because apparently morning automatically means breakfast.

    • RE: Consent in Gaming

That said. Aftercare is exceptionally important, especially for those running plots or scenes. We all like dramatic situations and peril and all of that sort of thing, but it can come at the cost of our wellbeing or our desire to keep playing. Looking in on your players after the fact, going over things with them, and helping them deal with some of their frustration is vital for anyone seriously looking into running plots that aren't all fluffy bunnies.

Let's not flower the concept with terms like ageplayers as if it's something misunderstood.

To be clear, ageplay is a thing. Between consenting adults that are physically and mentally adults.
      That's the difference.

@Arkandel I'm... against using NPCs for TS. Though usually when I usually think of NPCs I think of heavy-hitters in a game's theme, like a King or a Senator or whatever. These are gloves potentially available to a bunch of people to use, don't fill them with jizz.

My state is on fire. People are losing homes, and before it's all over I'm sure there will be loss of life. Naturally, the political big wigs (who cut the rural fire service budget by seventy-five percent this year) are blaming... the Greens for fearmongering. While homes are burning and livelihoods are going up in smoke and ash.

@Pandora An NPC is a tool, just to run plot and move the game's story/ies forward. That's all they're for, and when they're used for anything else it comes across as playing favourites or playing them like a PC.
