RE: Spirit Lake - Discussion
I am really delighted to see so much interest in what I know is going to be a fantastic game. I will be playing here as well and can't wait for all the stories that people will bring.

I'm definitely going to be giving this a try. If anyone wants to be magic buddies, hit me up. I'll be playing the owner/artisan of a touristy botanicals and beauty shop inherited from her mother.
I'll be there.
I'm just so tired all the time.
Yaaaas. I am excited to play with you both again.

RE: MUSH Marriages (IC)
@meg That is true. The through line of it made for a lot of really fantastic rp that I had a ton of fun playing. It would have been nice to get a conclusion on it.
I amend my statement to - do get married the night before the duel to the death if you are game for some intense rp.

RE: MUSH Marriages (IC)
I have had three.
One my husband died the morning after in a dramatic duel to the death? It was also a secret and and the ensuing baby drama was interesting and a massive dramatic train wreck. But married for the possibility of owning a town - was not a bad gamble on a L&L game. My sworn knights were super awesome afterwards too @Meg
Another I apped in already married with a very good friend and often rp buddy. It was really interesting to play out that long term relationship and gave them a very different sort of rapport since they were still crazy about each other. They got remarried in space after fighting aliens. Obnoxiously.
The third was actually also played with the same friend, but they apped in as my NPC hubs after a plotted kidnapping. It was a total arranged marriage and a mix of chilly and mutual respect. So my experience has been that it you like and trust the other player it can be loads of fun! But also don't get hitched the night before a duel. (Or do. Idk)

RE: What's missing in MUSHdom?
@faraday You are my favooorite. As if there was doubt. I love that system for being so easy with quick pick up and play.

@faraday I wish I had the code skills to write a fate plugin.

RE: 'The Magicians' mechanics with FS3
Personally I'd be tempted to basically have pre-set general spell groups and utilize wizard magic as a background skill. Do it skill v skill for magical combat - admittedly figuring out armor class for magic hurts my head.
X-Factor used this skill base for using mutations and I thought it worked really well. Gives the players room to explain what or how they are doing a thing and then roll for how well in play it happens. (Or apply some handwave if it is basic).

RE: Creative Outlets
Back to topic though, if you can't tell I tend to do a lot of clothing research and tend to make aesthetic/mood boards and music playlists. I follow fashion pretty heavily so that makes it fun. Also I will sketch.

RE: Creative Outlets
@lithium There is definitely a time, place and arguably word limit. I usually limit clothing description to the intro part of the pose when it would be notable ....and then play with any shifts of lighting. Noir hats exist for a reason.
What you are describing - not really my bag. I think part of it is doing to the type of scene that is happening.
@Arkandel Agreed! It really adds something to the scene for me.
-
RE: Creative Outlets
@lithium I don't think the full description ever needs to be reposed, but I love posing the elements of change. What are they wearing? What do they smell like? Wet hair? That you may pick up in conversation depending on how perceptive your character is.
For me these are huge indicators of mood and where the character was and where they are going. Also I love writing about lighting, but that one may just be me.

RE: Hobby-related Resolutions/Goals for the coming year... ?
Late to the party but...Goals for 2018
- Draw more & consistently. (I have my first table coming up in September for Rose City in Portland. Eep)
- Get beyond a beginner level in UX design, developing my html/css skills to an intermediate level
- Run some tabletop games

RE: RL things I love
@auspice Look into one pan bake recipes. They are largely protein and veggie based (which you can do frozen or seasonal as budget provides.) and literally involve putting all the shit on one pan and popping it in the oven.

Does whisky count as comfort food?
If it does, then I'm adding red wine.
If you drink enough of it - it seems like it could be. Mhmm red wine and dark chocolate

RE: Comfort Food...
Fresh bread loaded with butter or jam
Pierogies
Exalted Mac & Cheese (or trader Joe's if I am lazy)

RE: World of Darkness -- Alternative Settings
@lithium Fuck. I love fate. I know it is not for everyone but it is so easy to teach people and get them playing quickly. Also it allows for vast forests of player ridiculous and fun.
@Ganymede Those both sound interesting to me. I kind of love the idea of a dynastic wod game as mentioned earlier where you move forward in time - either keeping your immortal or within their bloodline.
