@auspice Ok wow, that is just... I don't understand some people. How does somebody else just trying to exist comfortably make you so uncomfortable that you'd go out of your way to completely ruin their day? For such a cheap, scummy low blow like that. I hope whoever did this is found out and terminated with extreme prejudice. Fuck...

Especially for how... I mean, it's yes, a very slimy, gross, low blow. It's privileged information for you in payroll. 'Oh, I have access to this person's SSN and private information. Oh look, they used to have a bank account with us a decade~ ago and it has a different name! A <other gender> name. OH MY THIS GOES AGAINST MY PERSONAL FEELS'

and then to put that name on their paycheck when it's legally not their name? When their license, social security card, W2, etc., all show a different name? What the fuck are you protesting?

I hope the bank outs their ass so fast because fuck's sake. That's just wrong on so many levels.

Yeah, well, that might be the next issue in court if they rule in favor of Masterpiece Cake Shop, which is looking likely. Masterpiece is arguing that they have a right to avoid "compelled speech" if it would legitimize something that goes against their beliefs, regardless of the law. From the oral arguments, it's looking like Kennedy might break in that direction.

My mother's cancer may be coming back already. We don't know yet; she had tests done last week, and we get the results back tomorrow. And as a result I'm too nervous to sleep well tonight.

And simultaneously, one of my childhood best friends just had his son—his very young son—diagnosed with leukemia.

As was said: another round of "fuck cancer".

This was the first Christmas I can remember without my older sister. My brother-in-law was doing well, but muted, and occasionally shaken.

And let me tell you all through watching it happen: No parent should ever have to bury their child. If any of you have ever had to, I give you my deepest sympathy.

My great uncle passed during the night. He was a great big bear of a man with a southern accent and the last time I saw him a few months back, he seemed as vigorous as ever.

Right before Christmas, all his kids began posting pics of him on FB - this is never a good sign. I messaged to see what was up and turns out he was feeling a little tired this fall and so went to the doctor. The test results were not good. He had a fast-growing cancer. Nothing to be done. Just a matter of time. etc. etc. etc.

One of his daughters lives in Germany and didn't make it back in the 16 days it's been since diagnosis.

Fuck cancer.

I finally got a job! But since it's considered contract work I am technically a small business. I got the job from a place that organizes the contract work. So I had to pay for training with money I didn't have, and also pay for a voip for a business line. But I wasn't really hired at that point and I could still fail and not be hired.

I get paid per call. It goes up depending on the time of day you work, but we go 24/7 except on Christmas day, but once you get the speed, you can earn $12 - $14 / hour. For Christmas Eve (Closed 10pm for 24 hours) They said they were giving everyone a flat rate of $23 / hour.

... Since Christmas Eve I have been locked out of my account because I need to change a password but when I do I get an error. Told the supervisor on at the time what happened and she basically told me to go chill upstairs because usually it takes 5 minutes but... holidays. Oh, and she forgot she was even my supervisor. Every day I get emails saying they are offering premium shifts ($0.30 more per call) because they really, REALLY need people. I've called tech support myself after she had them reset the wrong password 3 times. Still haven't heard anything back.)

And then unrelated, I've started doing daily streams again, was doing Bioshock remastered and the game crashed and ate the save I was on putting me back by an hour. (I had all off the Little Sisters for that level by that point and had done a lot of hacking. ) I ended the stream early. Fuck Bioshock.

...cause it starts at like, $9/hr. And hours aren't guaranteed at the outset. So for people looking for work and desperate, it's something... but I wouldn't recommend it or suggest it long-term. $:\$

@arkandel I would murder. I already want to scream half the day because mediawiki uses tab to hop between fields and I spend far, far too much time cutting and pasting things back and forth between the wiki and TextEdit.
