Okay. Infinity War is a huge movie. And it was good. Really good.

Can confirm, I liked it a lot.

BUT, and this is a huge BUT for any MSBites like me with kids: it is super, super fucking dark. Like, shockingly so, especially if you didn't read the comics and don't know what to expect.
I would strongly suggest leaving younger tots at home, it definitely earns its PG-13 rating if not honestly a little more.

I saw it at opening last night and it was pretty amazing, but probably not at all what people would expect with how everything falls into place. My Marvel-fu uncle and I had a good time deliberating about it post-movie.

        @calindra

        Probably not, haha.

I was with one of those opening-night crowds that cheered pretty much every first appearance and "bad-ass" moment, but they were in shocked silence at the end credits where you'd usually expect that kind of crowd to applaud, it was actually pretty comical to me.

        Expect a ride, you guys.

2 1/2 hours of fanboy porn. I quite enjoyed it! Last Jedi made my back hurt, but this one I didn't notice how crazy long it was.

MVP seating is where it's at. Almost all cinema seats hurt my back after the first hour, but a reclining seat for an extra $5 or so is magic.

@arkandel I'll have to track those down in my city. For me it isn't so much the reclining, it's the enforced bad posture the way they push my shoulders forward. What kind of a sadist designed those?

Depending on where you live, you're looking for Alamo Drafthouse, Movie Tavern, or Studio Movie Grill. They have full service, too, with bar and restaurant menus.

Regal Cinemas and their affiliates (United Artists, etc.) has the reclining seats. They sell them as the "RPX Experience" tickets.

                      Avengers was awesome.

They did a surprisingly amazing job fitting all the characters in together and pacing stuff, I thought. A couple characters felt pretty superfluous and contributed basically nothing (most notably Widow), and I'm not a huge fan of the "everybody is basically equally strong in the cinematic universe" thing (most notable issue there being Captain America who is routinely basically somehow portrayed as being basically as strong as people like Thor/Hulk/etc when it comes to how much of a fight he puts up), buuut, seriously, they did an amazing job.

Tons of fun. They did a great job with Thanos, in terms of his look and him as a character. Which was nice to see after the complete fucking travesty that was Apocalypse. (Different studio, yes, but still.)

The GOTG crew somehow seemed to steal the show for me, which I really find amazing when they're competing with RDJ Iron Man, Scarjo Widow, etc. I'm a "comic person" sort of. I don't read a ton of comics, but I've come to know a ton of comic stuff from playing comic MUs, and idk the GOTG chars at all outside of the movies, but Marvel just...routinely does a fucking A+++ job with them and their tone. Love it.

Would do horrible, horrible things with movie-Wanda.

I'll throw my vote out for Avengers being awesome. I loved Thanos. And, despite there being 100 characters in it, I never felt lost or confused about anything. Amazing movie. I can't wait to see it again.

You don't need to remove anything, no. That's not what I want.

I just want people to be cognizant that others may want to know absolutely nothing about it before they have the opportunity to see it.

Some of us have very demanding jobs, children, fussy spouses, or circles of friends that just won't shut up about the movie, and I can see how it would be aggravating to see yet another place where people tease just a little not-spoiler information.

I don't have my hackles up, I assure you. And I probably would not have said anything but for the fact that this movie is several years in the making, as far as anticipation goes.

I'm just suggesting a bit of empathy for those who cannot get out to see it immediately, for whatever reason.

That said, I did see the movie opening night. And I'm trying very hard not to say anything about it.

Just a couple of weeks, please. No ramifications if otherwise, y'all, but it doesn't cost us not to say a thing, right?

I'll throw my hat in that they managed to really prove themselves in building a true structure that they could have so many characters and managed to keep a coherent narrative. No questions as to what a character's motivations were and exposition was just about right to keep things flowing. Fight choreography was up to the usual standards, maybe even better than usual, with the teamwork aspect giving me the warm fuzzies a lot. There was not a character appearance that didn't just hit my comic fan button all over the place. Opinions from the kids had Hulk stealing the show possibly Dr. Strange.
It's a long movie but it did not feel long at all. Just one of those moments where pacing, scene changes, action pieces, all kind of fall together into a really good film.

I can sympathize with these people, I used to be that way. But I just don't think that's a very realistic expectation in this day and age and rather than these people losing their minds over it as they tend to, I'd suggest that they adapt and learn that knowing a little beforehand isn't going to absolutely ruin the experience for them. Like, some people act like they just got interrupted mid-coitus or something over spoilers, and that's just kind of a ridiculous way to be.

Expectations depend on the medium; if I'm on /r/movies then I'm asking for it. But MSB is one of those mediums we can control a little better, so why not do so?

Surely we can contain ourselves for a week or two, or if we can't, create a separate thread with clear spoiler tags and discuss things there, right?

                                    No spoilers here.

Infinity War went further than I thought Marvel/Disney would dare go. I was pleasantly surprised by this. The writers are clearly playing hardball and the events of the movie are a lot bolder and have more impactful consequences than I thought they'd be willing to put on screen.

As a Marvel dork who read the Infinity Gauntlet when it came out, I'm an ubernerd for the original Infinity Gauntlet story, and was originally concerned about the deviations the MCU was taking. The original story included characters from the X-Men, Fantastic Four, etc, so due to IP rights they couldn't recreate the comic, so it was a definite risk in terms of fanbase entitlement.

I loved it. A+. Best part for me? I have no idea where the road leads after Infinity War, so I'm now excited to see what comes next.

Delete the Hog Pit. It'll be fun.

(I agree with this, and would probably be equally as judge-y if someone lost their freakin' minds over it too. Still, in the interests of avoiding unnecessary bickering and seething, it seems the courteous thing would be just to hold on for a little while longer. Then we can tear each other to ribbons.)

Frankly, reflecting on my sexual and TS history, I would probably gladly embrace a mid-coitus interruption now and again. These days, sex scenes on screen are more like Tulip Fever when I would vastly prefer more Blue is the Warmest Color. (Actually, more Lea Seydoux in general would be great, thank you.)

@jennkryst But reviews don't need to include spoilers. They can, but in my humble opinion it's the other way around - the default should be that they don't.

Also it's not like we're being unreasonable here and banning spoilers for months after something has come out. No one will fingerwag because you gave away the ending to The Lost Jedi.
