It may not be streaming, but YouTube works for me. Spotify has too many ads.

@lemon-fox Youtube is streaming! Sure, valid choice.

If you're in the States also being a Google Play subscriber removes the ads from Youtube.

Been using Spotify (if you can get on a family plan with some folks, it's a great deal) for years now. It's been the best service for me.

Spotify, all the way. I pay for the premium account because I use it all the time. Absolutely fantastic and I never have to buy music anymore. (Or pirate it, cough cough)

@auspice Do you like the UI? It confused me a lot when I was trying it out for stuff like "generate a playlist of songs similar to Five Finger Death Punch".

It was great at recommending new things but I wanted it to create lists on demand based on my moods. Google does that, and it exploits various other violations of my privacy (such as knowing I'm at the gym/on the road/at work) to make suggestions.

@arkandel It works better if you pick an individual song. The 'similar artists' tends to be very narrow.

But you can shape and grow your playlists as you go. And with premium, you can do a lot more than just shuffle play.

You can also do custom playlists as well, with it. Just change the setting to 'repeat playlist' when it ends instead of continuing on with suggested songs.

I just hate having to do the work. 😛

Downloading MP3s is definitely the way I'd want to do it, but my Pixel 2 has no SD card slot and 'only' 64 GB... most of which have gone to apps and data as it is. So I can't have my stuff on the go unless I want to listen to the same stuff a lot.

I don't download anything. My phone thing gives me free unlimited streaming, so I just use my spotify.

@zombiegenesis I have Prime anyway and I tried it, but I found the selection pretty small. Are you satisfied with it?

I am but I had to subscribe to the music service as well as prime. Once I did there hasn't been much in the way of music that I haven't been able to find.

I wish Apple Music did the Pandora thing where I can say, "This, with more of this song, less of this song, and none of this artist."

That is my perfect music streaming service.

I stream my music (vinyl) on a 54 Philco record/radio table.

                                Not mine but similar finish:

That or pandora on most smart devices.

I'm just a surge protector doing my job, sir.

Spotify. I'm far too invested into it to have anything else.

I tend to curate my own music very specifically because I always have (I used to build my MP3 collection not by the album or artist, but by the song). However, Spotify's 'radio' option (right-click on a song, select 'Go to radio') is pretty good. I find it curates really well based on that.

It's not an artist radio, but it plays songs similar to the one selected. If you go to Browse, you can go through Charts, Genres, even Moods. I love the Moods section. Music for relaxation? Studying? Workouts? etc.? I actually find those collections to be awesome and some have been folded into my saved library.

Spotify has also started adding audiobooks, podcasts, etc., to their library.

It works great with both my Google Home and Alexa (yes, I have both; former in my living room, latter in my bedroom). I'm able to move flawlessly on it from my laptop to my phone to both devices. I only wish it had Roku integration since I just got one of those. I know it used to, but I think they have a deal with Amazon right now, unfortunately.

Also, the 'Discover Weekly' (a new list generated every Monday with suggestions based on what you listen to) is a lot of fun. I set aside time every week to listen through mine.

                                      Oh! Double-post.

For anyone on Sprint: I know Spotify had and they still might.... a certain number of months free for family plan Premium. When we signed up, it was for a year free.
(They've also had deals for Hulu and other services. Always good to check on your profile on the Sprint site. They offer a lot of stuff lately.)

Spotify all the way. Now that it's getting a wider selection of podcasts it's basically all I use. I used to go in and out of it and Stitcher all day but that's becoming less necessary.

I find it really interesting no one has voted for 'radio'. Not a single person.
