Why did you pick your username?

TiredEwok comes from when my husband asked me to make a Twitch account and follow him when he was considering trying his hand at streaming to bring in extra money. I used to habitually use EwokJedi but it was already taken, perhaps a sign that I made an account on Twitch with that name in the past. It was early morning and I was too tired to try and figure out a password to see if that was the case, and was too tired to come up with a name... so that's how TiredEwok was born.

I needed a name for my first staff alt on B5 MUSH. I'd just done a college book report on scientist Michael Faraday. He was a pretty cool inventor guy who preferred practical experiments over theory, so it seemed fitting for a coder. I'd intended it to be temporary until I thought of something better, but I never did.

Because it’s impossible to get me to shut up.
To clarify: I also often quote myself to clarify. And edit my posts. And expand. And and and...
Sometime in my teens, a coder looked at me and said, "You're like a Non-Maskable Interrupt." So I went by "The NMI" for a while.
This was stupid, but not as stupid as "Lance Peterson" which is the name I chose before that.
Because why not.
Shut up.
So I played around with "The Non-Maskable Interrupt" but that was way too long, and too on-the-nose. Why have a cyber-handle in the cyber-days of cyber when it's not clever? (Not clever people are not clever.)
So it's "THE NOn-MAskable INterrupt."
Still on-the nose, a little self-demeaning, but not as obvious until people ask me about it. And seriously, if you can find another Thenomain out there let me know so we can prove multiverse theory.
This is why it's shortened to "Theno", not "Then". Tho someone called me "The Non-Name" recently and I liked that quite a bit.

Sao was a character I played on a Pern game, and then the smash came while I was playing Bruce Banner on a game.
-
...I play a character named Rinel on Arx.
-
I picked Ashen-Shugar because back in the day with player name character limits having the name 'That Asshole Over There that I hate' just was too long.
So I settled...
-
I have been around forever but never really involved with the main things going on just sorta always on the edge of things so I am "that guy that is sort of there." but that is long as hell so it is "thatguythere" I use it here and a wrestling board and a Big Brother board.

Rosalind was my staff alt on X-Men Movieverse MOO. There was a Shakespeare naming theme and someone had already been Beatrice, the best of all Shakespeare heroines. So I became Roz!
-
The first comic I ever received was from Vision & the Scarlet Witch when I was like, real young. It was from my grandma. Her name is Wanda. That was the only reason the bought it. Cut to [redacted] years later, I've got a sick Scarlet Witch tattoo and a player handle.

When I got my first staff bit on DWR they said to pick something that suited me. I am a night owl and always have been, so I picked Insomnia when WORA was on EZBoards so people would know who I was and it carried over.
Moiren was the name of my character in table top back around the same time, so I started using it for all my game characters.

Staff Sgt. Batholemeaux P. Insomniac saved my life in Korea. In 1973.
...or maybe I just feel like reiterating the "named myself after my godawful sleep schedule" for two posts in a row is boring.

I like autumn.
Also, it's generic enough that no one will ever associate it with my real-life identity unless I intentionally reveal it.
-
I chose it from the song "Princess Cupcake" by Marian Call.

Ganymede is the identity Rosalind adopts when living in the Forest of Arden in As You Like It. It was also the name of an alt of mine on Due Rewards.
There are other reasons I like the name:
-
I used to play Amber: The Diceless RPG, which is based on Zelazny's The Chronicles of Amber. That series makes use of the Forest of Arden as a boundary between the mundane world and Amber.
-
I really like As You Like It.
-
Ganymede, as a character, is very interesting, being a young male character played by a female character who, in Shakespeare's day, would have been played by a young man who no doubt was being pandered to and groomed by older men.
-
I like Greek mythology.
-
I like space.
Just in case anyone that I couldn't be geekier, right?

So basically you're my alt.

Does that mean you have one alts or two?

My main character in Arx signs almost all of her formal correspondence with,
Sincerely,
Joscelin ArteriusAnd I have memories of an old friend who would write me letters, and she would sign everything with,
Your friend,
Sin Cerely -
I was loving the character War Machine at the time I found the forum. Totally random. Not much else behind it.

I like the way the word sounds. And I've always had an affinity for the filth, for a certain desperate grit, beauty in trash. Clean high magical fantasy was always my antithesis. Also it was the name of an old Morrowind save file of mine back in the early 00's and it stuck in my head.
