We ask advice on shit to buy sometimes, so why not just a dedicated thread for it?

ANYWAY. I've been working an assload of OT lately. I'm about to go into week 3 of it. It means my next couple paychecks are gonna be pretty good!

One of the things I'm looking at getting is a new desk chair. I've been using a $50 Amazon one for over a year now and it's uh... it's bad. For me and my arthritic hip, it's real bad. I need a new one. I'm not looking to homg splurge, but I def. want something that's not gonna leave me in pain after a few hours.

So what desk chairs have done y'all good? Where can I find good deals? I don't need GAMING CHAIR but hey, if there's a gaming chair that's a good price and has worked out well, shoot. If there's a standard desk chair that's a good price and has proved to be comfy, shoot.

I will note I like having arms on my desk chairs. No arms makes me feel unstable. Otherwise, I'm pretty open to suggestions!

I actually just got a new chair myself after retiring one that lasted me almost 2 decades. It was a bit weird, I loved my old chair, but the one I've settled on seems to work pretty well so far. It's a gaming chair, which I wasn't looking for either, but a ton of people suggested it to me and I don't regret it as of it (had it about a week now).

Anyway, it's this bad boy: New Chair

I got to pick out a new (reasonably priced) chair once for an old job and I found this one from Staples. I loved it so much that I bought the same chair for home use when I moved! I definitely think it's a good balance of economy and comfort. I like the mesh rather than more padded/plush chairs because it's nice when it's a bit warmer and such. I find it very comfy while also being very supportive. I was able to give away the lumbar pillow I'd had at my office before because it's got good lumbar support. And if you hate headrests (which some people do), you don't have to put it on.

@zombiegenesis Can I ask how the foot rest thing works for you? I have enough room under my ginormous desk to put my feet up, and I should more, so...

@Macha I haven't used it much but it's worked pretty well when I did. The chair also leans back quite far, you could probably nap in it if you were so inclined.

I bought this one a few weeks back and love it. Comfy while still being good support, and the arm rests go up and down!

Don't know if it ships to the US though.

Considering my leg-ishoos, the idea of a footrest has me really intrigued. I've been trying to find ways to finagle an ottoman or something under my desk and nothing has really panned out. Something on the chair itself though, hmmmmmm.

This is the one I picked up. It's a fun modern look and the ergonomics on it are fantastic (at least for me)

I am looking for wireless over-the-ear/on-the-ear headphones to wear during many late nights at work, when the quiet drives me crazy. They're more for use with my computer than my phone, so I don't give a shit about "call quality". And no, I don't want to spend $300, thanks every recommendations list ever.

I have had these for a while. They're bluetooth, $25. I do need to replace mine because they have a short, but they've lasted over 2 years.

On the upper end, Skullcandy makes a number of options. I had their Plyr2 headset and really liked it. So while I can't speak to headphones, I like the brand a lot.

They are awesome and comfortable and the best money I have ever spent on headphones short of my Epic Airs.

                                          I use these: https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-M50x-Professional-Monitor-Headphones/dp/B00HVLUR86

Spendy but worth it. I inherited my first pair from a DJ friend who replaced theirs and gifted me their slightly older model. I replaced them recently and didn't even consider another brand. I dragged my gifted pair to Singapore and back 6 times and they went around the world with me and they held up well. They were finally looking long in the tooth and it was time to replace them.

I've never had a better audio experience and I got a pair of fancy, shmancy Bose noise cancelling headphones as a thank gift at work for a product release and I don't think Bose even compares (and Bose's pricetag is stupid anyway).

Game Chairs: I'm not sure the price tag really often justifies buying it a lot of the time. Really, you just want a chair that won't be hard on your back and enable you to sit for long hours while supporting your spine and keeping your blood circulating. Some game chairs are cool looking but they're not any nicer for your back or your ability to sit for a long, long time than a cheap ass office chair from Target.

Also, since I forgot to mention this: the battery life on this is ridiculously long. I have literally been Netflix binging on and off for two days now and haven't had to charge them, at a decent volume. I watched all of Elite (season 1), the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (entire season 1), and got halfway through Helix Season 1 before I recharged them, and it probably still had a bit to go tbh. I just did it pre-emptively.

I love these things and am never getting rid of them. These are my laptop-headphones, and I use my Epic Air earbuds for the phone. Only two things I've ever needed and I plan on using them forever.
