I am attempting The Expanse for the third time, as it continues to get glowing recommendations. Thus far, it is holding my interest. Previously, I could barely get past the first episode, and now I'm on episode...5? 6? I think.

Just saw the list of voice actors for the Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, and nearly wet myself.

Not with urine, mind.

I don't think I've seen a finer cast assembled ever.

My only worry is how many of them have never done voice acting before (or done very little) and how many actors become 'Famous, Recognizable Person providing voice over for <character>.'

Mark Hamill (who I was pleased to see on the list, mind!) is sort of unique in that he's a damn fine VA, but also a fairly big name actor.

Respectfully, those are all fairly big actors and actresses. Let's just look at the Skekses:

Andy Samberg: The boy from The Lonely Island? He'll be fine.
Jason Isaacs: I'll take Captain Lorca from Star Trek: Discovery any day.
Warrick Brownlow-Pike: He's a puppeteer for other Henson productions.
Ralph Ineson: Brits are, by and large, trained for this sort of performance. Also, he's the Demonicist from Star vs. The Forces of Evil.
Olafur Darri Olafson: Voice credits include The BFG and How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World.
Sigourney Weaver: Plenty of voice work.
Benedict Wong: The voice of Alex Yu from Prey can do no wrong. Also, he's Wong from Doctor Strange.
Simon Pegg: Another actor whose talent I cannot question.
Toby Jones: Hail Hydra. Also, Owl from Christopher Robin.
Keegan Michael-Key: More voice credits than most.
Harvey Fierstein: The one and only.
Mark Hamill: Duh.

I have no worries for the voices; I'm a little hesitant for the writing. The Dark Crystal was wonderful to look at, but painful to watch at times.

Yeah, I'm curious what the fuck the budget was for this because between practical costs and talent the bill has got to be up there.

Or some of the voice talent worked for cheap out of love for the project. I could see that from a few of the names on the list.

Word is that many of the more famous actors came on board after the project was announced to fill in "additional" voices. Chances are they came in on the cheap, just like many stars did filling in for "additional" roles in the new Star Wards trilogy.

It's a slow burn. I haven't really binged it. I think if you don't finish the first season enjoying it at all, there's not much point in continuing. But the first season drastically picks up in pace near the end, and by the time the second season begins things are roaring along.

I absolutely love the nerd fandom that many nerd actors have. Back In The Day, it was just Kevin Smith and Quentin Tarantino who wore their nerd-badge with pride, and now we've got, hell, more than we deserve.

And if all those people have a deep-seeded love for Jim Henson, then even after his passing he gets to do what he set out to do.

@Rinel I quite loved the paranoia of who is, or might be, a darkfriend - sometimes based on very minor clues, any bit of irregular behavior, that one thing someone said that one time, etc.

It seems a bit more common now that we've seen the same thing a bunch of times in the form of Skrulls, Cylons, etc... but I feel back then it was a brand new, cool concept: Paranoia in fantasy.

This is one of the main reasons I was sad when RJ passed on, because I really wanted to see Cadsuane's potential outrigger novel, especially the part where she found out the Black Ajah was A) real; and B) she avoided being assassinated by them for likely a number of years (although, warding your chambers seemed to be a great way to avoid that and we don't know if Cadsuane ever got on their list of KILL HER). Granted, she had a bit of an advantage thanks to her Power-negating ter'angreal, but that doesn't mean she can simply ignore the Oaths or assume a given individual was a Darkfriend to defend herself in the event of a surprise attack.
