I use soda and pop. Both are used in my area.

I use soda but I really think pop is cute and wish I had grown up using that. My favorite great aunt called it sody-pop so my heart feels happy when I hear pop being used.

I started using "coke" exclusively since that time I asked for an "Ice Cream Soda Float" at a restaurant and they brought me soda water with an ice cream scoop in it.

@silverfox I'm flashing back to that waiter telling you he 'had everything' and really he had nothing.

RIGHT? I don't even remember what I finally ordered but it wasn't what I wanted.

LaCroix is carbonated water that once met a guy who knew someone who claims to have come across flavor at one time but the accounts are unconfirmed.

Here in MD we call Pepsi, Coke and similar things "soda". LeCroix, Jarritos Mineragua and similar things, we just call "water".

Can confirm on the soda front, having grown up in MD.

...but I can't speak to the fancy water since I moved away before that fad. 😄

It's a strange thing. One side of the city where I grew up calls it "soda." The other side calls it "pop." It's this strange disconnect since the most popular restaurant on each side of town is a Bob Evans.

When I went to Louisville in Kentucky, everything there was "coke." The waitress literally said, after I ordered a Pepsi, "One Pepsi-coke."

                                        LeCroix no es bueno.

I much prefer Walmart's brand of artificially sweetened sparkling water (Clear American) as there's actually some flavor in there. It's cheaper, too. Also it comes in resealable bottles as opposed to cans which is great for keeping the fizzy in.

@Darren I like the blackberry one without the artificial sweeteners in it. It's just tart/acidic enough in taste/feel to be a great replacement sensewise, for chugging a can of coke.
