      @Auspice

I did that in college with a reasonably large and very fake tree who quickly became known as Daphne (I lived in a house full of classics and archaeology undergrads). Daphne would move from people's doors to various stair landings to, in one particularly memorable incident, the inside of a shower.

Whereupon she promptly fell on top of the person who went in bleary-eyed in the morning for his daily ablutions.

      He was not amused.

The worst was when Fred was in my shower, yes.
      I screamed.

Fred went off the balcony that night.

Never leave faux-people, mannequins, cardboard cut-outs, etc. in your roommate's shower.

            New creepy.

Learning that someone in the local gaming/convention community is a serial killer who is going on trial in 2020 for decapitating women.

But thats not the kind of creepy we are talking about.

So another new creepy: When I was 19 I went on a date with a girl, and the date ended with me dropping her off at her house (she lived with her parents). IIRC her and her friend had come over to my apartment once or twice before to hang out, but it was TOTALLY A SURPRISE WHEN THIS GIRL'S MOM SHOWED UP AT MY HOUSE A WEEK LATER. Her mom apparently left her husband and daughter (who i didn't intend on going on another date with) at home to find me and booty call me. Oh, she was really pushy, too. Come onnnn, it'll be funnnnn.

It was around the time she was grabbing my arm and trying to drag me to my bathroom telling me that she wanted me to piss on her in the shower that I told her to leave or I'd tell her daughter.

I ghosted (hah! Pun!) all of those fucking people.

Delete the Hog Pit. It'll be fun.

Todd Kohlhepp, real estate agent in SC

Not a gamer, but. I had a lot of acquaintances and friends in real estate when I was in SC so a ton of people who knew this guy. When he was found out / arrested it was... a big deal.

Oh oh just saw the edit.
              Date creeps.

The last date I went on, a couple months ago (this might be why I'm so hesitant to try any dating rn even tho I'm lonely af): the guy was an arrogant mf'er anyway which is fine. Personality clashes happen.

Except he asked about my scar.

              Which is fine.

I have a prominent scar over my left breast. It's high enough that unless I wear a higher collared shirt, you can see it. Summer in TX, that ain't happening. I'm used to people asking and most ask out of curiosity and then make jokes about what they think the scar is from: I don't mind this! The theories are always a ton more fun than the actual story anyway.

              But this guy stared.
He stared in a way that made me feel so gross.
Like, on a level with Game Store Owner from my previous post.

I almost got up and walked out right then and there. I probably should've. But I was also just so stunned because it was like... a switch flipped. He went from 'arrogant hipster' to 'I'm going to leer at this scar' so suddenly I barely had time to process.

(pro-tip: someone as scarred as I am may appreciate that you like or aren't bothered by scars, but being SO INTO them is kind of frightening k?)

                @Auspice Yeah fuck that noise.

                Also...

The Canal Killer was prominent in the AZ cosplay/con scene and was known for driving around in a retrofitted 80s police cruiser covered in fake blood with ZOMBIE HUNTER on the back of it.

Those people were already dead! You cannot murder an animated corpse!

His trial was supposed to be in October but got pushed to 2020. I fucking hope that's not his defense. Oh man...

                        LARP houses happen.

These share all the qualities of a cult.

                        Isolation.
                        Take over the person's life.
                        Dictate how they live.
Keep things unstable so the cult is both the victim's only source of comfort and a constant source of pain to need that comfort.
Create a social group that pressures them to conform and never to leave.

Sounds like a LARP house is a good way to become the king of your own tiny kingdom.

@Pandora Oh jeebus. Pardon me while I wipe the coffee from the monitor; that was spit-take inspiring.

That said, if we ever run out of things to gripe about here -- ha! -- I suppose reading everything in rewind could prove entertaining as a diversion.

                              Oh fucking well.
