@faraday has been an excellent RP partner, someone I've had a great deal of fun discussing game design with, someone I've butted heads with on game design philosophy and details, someone I've argued with and gotten frustrated with over scene details, someone I've gone right back to having a good time RPing with and discussing game design with, someone who has revolutionized (along with the Evennia team on similar paths) MU*ing, someone who has helped me set up and bug-check games using her code that ran contrary to what she thought was best for the code, someone who has donated what I expect is literal tens of thousands of hours to the community via her coding and Staffing, and someone I consider one of my better friends in the MU*ing community.

      Thank you, @faraday.

Here's to @Faraday! She is a better part of this community than I am. Which, to be fair, isn't exactly a high bar to clear.

Yeah it's almost like...you can disagree with someone's game philosophy decisions and still like and respect them. ZOMG. Anyway, yeah, Fara always exemplifies that.

I have literally no idea if I know @faraday or not - but having peeked at Ares, well. Anyone that is doing something to try to contribute positively to our little hobby corner of the internet should be valued and loved. We can all remember periods where parts of M**dom were starved of coders and things stagnated, I'm sure. Even if you think the direction they are going is wrong, then their work is stimulating thought and discussion on our hobby, and that equally should be respected and appreciated.

            So kudos to Faraday.

@faraday has been a good friend since BSGU, and I have loved watching Ares grow into what is the most inclusive platform I've ever worked with (both as a player and admin). She's incredibly helpful, a good-hearted person, and has a very down-to-earth approach to everything. There is no way that we could have been so active in this community without both Ares and FS3.

Always grateful for you, Fara! ❤

Thanks in addition to the people that tagged her. I should have in my original post.

@faraday thank you for all that you do.

                  not bad

                  She's alright.
I kid, I have good memories from various Ares-based games. Other already here have already said more times over of the good one has done for the hobby. Just gonna echo that statement.

Also, Faraday once named a plot scene I ran as one of her all time favorites.

So I love her just for that.
(OK not just for that but damn it made me feel good.)

I remember Faraday from Martian Dreams, back in the day. She's good people, and deserves all the nice things.

I vaguely recall some writing of @faraday's, a long time ago now, on constructing character that has always stuck with me. I don't really give an iota about code (except when it breaks, I'm one of those people) but her understanding of character and story has stuck in my brain.

I don't know @faraday personally, but I've been playing on an Ares games for the last year now and I'll be the 188837th person to say that they're an amazing contribution to this hobby. And one I really appreciate.

@faraday You legitimately deserve it, and more. You do not deserve the bullshit abuse people are flinging. Not even the tiniest bit. I am really sorry to see it happening to you.

                              Oh fucking well.

Dude, have you read MSB? We prove this wrong like, all day, every day. Game philosophy someone doesn't approve of can get you on The List, man.

But anyway, repeating here -- @Faraday is awesome. She even takes the time to help me when I do incredibly stupid things, and even on the one point we disagreed on (removing the handles from channel names because I hates them, Precious) she was pretty patient and completely above-board. So.

Treat people decently,. and they treat you decently. News at 11!

Non-Ares games literally annoy me now. The lack of ease of RP, without a bunch of unnecessary commands and excess keystrokes to just enjoy myself, makes me twitchy. I am now and forever spoiled by Ares, which just lets me enjoy a damn game without having to jump through hoops to RP. Thank you, Fara!

@BetterNow Plus, a common platform makes trying out new games that much easier. It takes away a lot of the learning curve from the old Mushing days.

I feel like this is due for a bump.

If there was no Ares, I would not be able to MUSH at all any more. I had to take down my gaming PC so I could set up my work PC on my desk at home. I can play from work some, but better than half of that is done exclusively on the Ares portal. After work, I am stuck on my iPad, where all of my RP is done via portal. (I tried one time to play on Arx, and the web client is not a workable solution on an iPad.)

So yeah. Thank you, @faraday, for making "shelter in place" bearable in a small way. 🙂

I'm in the same boat. Without Ares I would not be able to RP at all anymore. It's also allowed me to bring some people into RP with that had never MU'd before and would likely never fit on a traditional game. So, for those reasons alone, I'm eternally grateful that Ares exists.
