Allergies. 15 hours of head pain. 15 hours of stuff I had to do lost...

I'm one of those people who makes 'more' on the unemployment stimulus than I did at my previous job. Not a lot more, just a bit. Like, it's not in the realm of 'I don't want a job again' but more 'I can keep afloat and pay off some debt' (or more realistically I was able to afford the emergency vet bill I had last weekend).
But with it set to end in two months and me scraping the barrel for jobs to apply to in not just one but two cities (because I'm at a point of figuring well...if I can't find a job here, I might as well look elsewhere as well, right?), I'm starting to stress out. Without the 'bonus', my unemployment covers....about two-thirds of what I need. Basically 'I can either keep my apartment or my car'.
I desperately hope they extend it because businesses are not going to be back up to full employment by the end of July. And the twisting sensation in my stomach when I look at my finances sucks.
-
There's supposed to be another round of stimulus checks coming sometime in June. I dunno about your state but mine will be continuing the $600 stimulus money added to your unemployment, until the end of July.

I hadn't heard about the other round of checks. That's going straight into savings.
I do know that they're continuing the $600 until the end of July. My anxiety is just sitting here looking at the whopping 8 new job apps I was able to send out this week and is going into a tailspin of 'you're not gonna find anything by August. The stimulus is gonna end and you'll be fucked.'
Because we know anxiety likes to do this.
ETA: It doesn't help that my city (Austin) is trying to stay safe, keep people at home still, etc... But the rest of Texas is trying to fully open and our attorney general is bullying the mayor.

Ok, so this is like a happysad.
Going into a store and seeing that all the pride gear and jewelry is marked for clearance!!! ...

I hurt for my city today.
They instituted a curfew.
I have not missed the irony that, just weeks ago, the people that were complaining about "the government nanny state" trying to stop the spread of a deadly disease are now applauding "the government nanny state" imposing a limited form of martial law.
This will not stop the pain.
It will not start the healing.
-
Right in the middle of curfew and national guard on the ground in my city, I DO NOT NEED my fucking home alarm to sound off at 3:30 in the morning. And every 90 seconds. And the asshole security company lying about 7 day availability for support.
I'm livid about the larger situation, but the alarm system thing after the initial heart attack moment is a disgruntlement.

I will be a motherfucking adult and not pick up the phone on which my husband is having an argument with a friend of his about whether we should just let piles of people die for the economy...
...that I'm pretty fucking sure started over 'when are you going to come back to the D&D game?!' that she hosts...
...that is 2 hours away in New Jersey...
...near where he normally works -- as a massage therapist, which no one in NJ is doing right now...
...in a specific hot zone area. While my father is still running a fever, which I heard him tell her.
I will further be a motherfucking adult and not ask him, "So, how grateful are you that you married me and not that hot mess of WTF?"
...but I really want to do both, holy shit.

and soul destroying. I lay out in classes exactly what you should add in. I go over and over it. IF you choose to not attend, then you are likely to fail because you don't have the information,
Also, ...
-
@JinShei Thirty copies of practically the same report... yeah I feel you.
-
@Tinuviel In conclusion, academia is a land of contrasts.

In conclusion, academia is a land of
contrastsnuance that only just barely qualifies as the word as someone does the same study the other person did but also wants to take this almost-irrelevant thing into question to see if it has a significant impact (spoiler: it usually doesn't but that doesn't stop people from padding out 60 pages about it because it's damn hard to find something truly interesting to write about, so you just cite everyone and hope that some of them get your paper as peer reviews and look favorably on it for the citation).ETA: Thirty copies of practically the same report? I thought that was a journal?
-
@Derp And then you have to hope your paper is interesting enough to be published by organisations bound only by their own rules and strictures...

That and teaching. Which is what I and @JinShei do.

I would wince for you, but I'm still too relieved that marking doesn't refer to something related to furries.
