Sooo does anyone else have the anti-routine problem? I was always told if you did things for more than 2 weeks they become a routine. For me I can maintain a new routine perfectly for 2 weeks and then I completely lose track of it and can't pick it up again.

@Ifrit Yep. Miss one round of repetition and it's gone, it doesn't matter how long I've been doing it.

my psychiatrist told me very quickly in my time with her that the 2 week/30 day things are myths. Habits actually take between 60-90 days to solidly form, for most people

I left my laundry in the car yesterday.
                        I feel so stupid.

How did I go and pick up my laundry from the laundry room, drive back, and just.......leave it

And not realize until this morning when I was like oh I need clean underwear

Saying the quiet parts out loud since 1996.

How do people not? I have to put groceries in the front seat or I will forget them by the time I get home.

@GreenFlashlight @Auspice Yeah I've forgotten things in the trunk. Repeatedly. I put things in the front passenger seat whenever possible.

I don't think I've ever forgotten perishable groceries before, but I have forgotten things like the hot dinner that I've just picked up. And then half an hour after getting situated inside, I'll realize that I'm hungry and go.. wait a minute.

Newer vehicles have warnings built in to check the back seat when you turn it off because people forget their offspring back there. Other things are bound to be forgotten too

When you are a special education teacher because your mother was a special education teacher and your parents met at a camp in the 1970's as counselors for children with special needs, and also you have ADHD that was diagnosed in high school and a daughter who is on the spectrum.

It feels extra special on the days where my brain does not allow me to do my job, which is to help children with developmental delays do preschool and get ready for kindergarten, because my brain is too similar to their brains. "Sorry kids but I guess you know how it is?" 😞
