Thundergulch
-
Idaho Territory, 1870; Thundergulch is a boom town full of colorful characters. Cattle drivers and fur trappers, rail gangs and bosses, miners and gamblers, gun fighters and corrupt politicians. A boom town barely over a year old and the nearest US Marshall is a days ride away.
Thundergulch is a fictitious historical western themed Mush. We offer factional groups representing affiliated parties competing for control of the town. This is a player driven system to help develop and determine direction for the growth of Thundergulch. These groups compete for Clout, drawing plot attention around their organization.

Oh this sounds like so much fun! Good luck with it!

Lookit. The gods of Make A Western Game have heard your prayers!

The site is pretty lite on game setting information. What are the guidelines around making pcs that aren't men? Can they hold any job or are they relegated to period accurate things?
-
@kanye-qwest Women aren't relegated to traditional womens roles. They can be any position.

That seems like a very important thing to note in your theme info for a game set in a historical setting. People will generally go in assuming traditional roles for your setting.
-
@icanbeyourmuse Good idea, thank you. Will make note of it in needed positions
-
@pacha Thank you, Pacha

@de-villefort Maybe I'm being thick here, but that to me just sounds educational. What am I missing?
-
@greenflashlight I think it was a joke about the fact Thundergultch isn't doing the women in the 'women roles' and 'men in the men roles' from a historical point of view.
-
@icanbeyourmuse Oh, okay. I thought they were saying the game did a bad.

Or, rather, acknowledging that a 'historical point of view' doesn't actually mean "women had no agency and could only be helpless accessories to men", especially in that particular time and place.
Which is delightful and refreshing. Most people who demand that women be in a "historically accurate place" don't know their history very well.
-
I am reminded of the (admittedly paraphrased) saying about how women to behave themselves rarely make history, for some reason.

@greenflashlight
Nah, the game being more progressive is actually historically correct.
It was cowboy movies and novels who treated women like shit.
Popular media of the past made it seem like women stayed home and waited for the men to do everything important when they were actually pretty boss. -
@de-villefort Okay, thanks. That was how I took it, sort of like how I took it back when I learned that what we currently think of as cowboys were mostly not white people.
-
Great game so far.
Unfortunately I can't log in this morning probably my work firewall but didn't work on the phone either
-
Looks like the game might be down as I can't log on, either.
