If a man plays a female character and notices how grossly people act towards women, that's personal growth through roleplay.
I've said it before on this site and I'll say it again. I am a male who doesn't consider writing female characters to be crossplaying but an exercise in becoming a better writer.
My experiences RPing a female character without declaring up-front that I was a male writer were eye opening in terms of what kind of pressure and harassment some women (or players believed to be women) get on these games, and it really helped define the way I treated others regardless of which gender I perceived them to be.

As a female player, I highly recommend everyone 'covertly' play a female character at least once. The experience is wild. And not in a good way. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't tempted to play a male character from time to time just to get a break... but then I end up on a game where there's 3 female characters for every male and I'm not sure that would really be any better. XD

Except for me, of course, but I get wicked action as a dude.

@Ganymede I tried to flirt with your female vamp! She just.. never really took the bait. Probably because I'm terrible at flirting. >.> But you do play an exceptionally good psycho, whichever the gender.

Well sure, if you're using John Cena as a PB. Who wouldn't?

Same. I'm not good with it. My new PC will be a werewoof, though. I think she'll be fun.

Max was pretty normal. Maddy was definitely psycho.

@Ganymede Weeeeeeeell, I don't know what game you're on now. Last game we were on together was Arx. But that last time I had a character flirt at yours was... the female vampire with the hat. Which was... Fallcoast? The Reach? One of those.
-
The only character of Gany's that I can remember with clarity and that I had reason to have my own character involved with (he offered to fund her work) was a Nossie sharky vamp that smelt like dead fish/chum. Most of the time my character was fighting the urge to hurl when within his vicinity and it would have required a strong stomach to even want to flirt with that.

It was The Reach, and that was Ripley. She also was crazy.
That was Oz, and I think it was Reno 1.0.

@Ganymede Yes, Ripley! She was fun.

I have pneumonia and I'm just going to be honest I do not have the energy to be chasing after this dingle berry this time, but my red flag is also going off on Arx RE: DWOPP.
Also, RE @Lithium. Funny enough, they were accused of being DWOPP on the previous MSB/Hogpit for the SAME TYPE OF BEHAVIOR as DWOPP . Probably why they are a little touchy /now/ or something. But. I'll say it again.
Not the same. Lithium was banned on 7/20/2018 from Arx, playing Barric and Cleo for "Had a tendency to be passive aggressive, guilt trip, or 'joke' in ways that made other players feel uncomfortable when turned down for RP or excluded in any way. Was warned a couple times about minor instances. When confronted about another instance and warned it could not happen again, ragequit."
Can 100% confirm that's pretty much to the point but with a distinctly rapey vibe that DWOPP didn't have.
