I've yet to meet anyone who didn't like the former, and the latter had me almost in tears.
Well. I watched the first episode of Madoka Magica, and I ... want to like it. But the art style reminds me of the level of art friends of mine were capable of in middle school (this is only in regards to the characters. My god the scenery is beautiful, why can't they make the characters not look like a middle schooler drew them?)
So Madoka Magica is not on my list of anime to watch.
I require professionally done anime to not remind me of something a thirteen year old drew.
-
The art style is a bit unusual, but I kind of liked it in a way. Still, Madoka.
-
Please, for your sake, watch the first three episodes before you quit the show.
You really, really need to.
-
@Cobaltasaurus This is going to be a problem for you... the art quality of anime has increased over time with the increased use of technology...
Compare anime from 1993 to 2014.. or 2000- 2014... You run the risk of losing alot of good stories if you let art style inhibit you too much... though to be fair, everyone is a bit guilty of judging a show by how good it's art is. Very Sad... then again..
Of course Madoka Magica is using this weird duck-like style of animation which is coming into popularity with a few of the shows out there.. never found it to my liking either...
Eden of the East? Anyone else ever watch it?
'Another' is a good anime as well- goes along well with the standard superstitions that result in crazy horror stories.
Kiseijuu: Sei no Kakuritsu... I dunno why, but this and Tokyo ghoul are both interesting to me on a level equivalent to how.. vampires would be without the obvious sexual component. A wolf amongst sheep, how human is human, etc etc. -
@Cobaltasaurus , go watch Dusk Maiden of Amnesia.
-
@HelloRaptor The world just ended. Helloraptor and I agree that something is great. (Seriously though, Tasogare Otome is hella tight)
-
I think we've more or less agreed about a number of anime in the past.
-
@HelloRaptor Is it on Netflix, and/or Crunchyroll?
-
It's on Crunchy, yeah.
-
I don't really watch anime all that much anymore, but if I had recommend any it would be Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Persona 4: The Animation.
-
I didn't mention this in my original list because I hadn't finished it, and I'm not looking for recommendations based on it because I'm fairly certain it's unique.
I was watching B Gata H Kei: Yamada's First Time on netflix (and finished last night). The synposis for it makes it sound reeeaaallly bad. As the synopsis is basically: "Yamada wants to screw a thousand guys before she graduates".
In reality the show is about a very pretty, but socially awkward as hell high school girl who decides its time to lose her "v-card". Problem is she's, as mentioned, socially awkward and doesn't know how to go about it. So she picks the first guy she thinks is a "cherry boy". The rest of the show is cute hijinks and misunderstandings and the slow descent into a girl's first love.
There is no actual sex in it, and there's barely any nudity. There are nipples but they don't get shown until the last two (or maybe just the last, it blends together because I watched the last four or so episodes at once) episodes. You never see anything below the waist.
It is a very "adult" (in that there is NSFW content) show though.
But it's a very cute, and very earthy sort of coming of age story for one very raunchy teenage girl.
I'd recommend it.
Now back to looking over your guys lists.

Also. Goddamn it, Raptor. I have homework to do and a kitchen to clean! Why do you do this to me?! WHY?!!!!
-
Because your tears are so delicious. ^_^

@HelloRaptor punches in the gut

My guilty pleasure is Le Chevalier D'Eon.
For many reasons, really. Historically accurate ++++. Also Ho Hounds.
But I really like Ergo Proxy (it's weird though), Haibane Renme, Mushishi, and all of the GitS TV seasons (not as big of a fan of the movies though).
-
This tangentially goes here.

I finished watching The Devil is a Part Time Worker. That was really fun. I just watched Kenichi: The Greatest Disciple. I was suppose to watch like the first five episodes for research on our current mu* project, but I got totally sucked in watched the entire anime.

This got a rise out of enough people to share:

I will when I get one. My next one comes up in 7 days. I usually dish them out as I get them.
