Downvotes

You should now be able to see downvotes on posts by clicking on the vote number between the up and down arrows. It's probably impossible to accurately click it on mobile, but it's at least viewable now.

Doesn't seem to work on Slate.
-
@Glitch It works on Chrome but it shows the avatar instead of their names (which you can then get I guess by mouseover'ing or clicking on that avatar).
-
@Arkandel It's the same view the admins have had, so I didn't add anything special, just made it available to all posters.

Double post: I know it's almost definitely a technical limitation and not necessarily intentional but it's not great that downvotes are visible retroactively.
People might have used it assuming their anonymity was protected and it was taken from them with no reasonable warning.
I'm a jerk and don't care who can see I'm downvoting them (in fact I prefer it that way) but others might.
-
I, for one, will still downvote the shit out of posts I think are BS.

Tough shit, IMO. If the only reason you express a contrary opinion is because no one will know you did so, then I have zero sympathy when others find out.

The only poster I ever down-vote stalked was @Anonymous. So no regrets.
-
@VulgarKitten That is the point of downvotes, afterall.
-
I spammed @Cirno (and uh... that one weird actual internet predator guy?) and it was worth it.
-
I don't think that it's spamming if you are doing this:

At the risk of sounding dumb, who cares if you get downvoted? Does that mean you don't get to level up or something?
-
@tangent Yes.
-
@Royal I should probably stop down voting all my posts if I ever wanna get that pony I have my eye on.
-
@tangent Hard mode. Stick to your guns.
-
@tangent I could be misunderstanding here, but people have a reputation score. If your reputation starts to fall (below zero, maybe?) the forum starts to limit how frequently you can post? What's-his-face seemed to indicate something like that, when he was spraying his crazy all over the forums.

Abusable. If I follow your posts and downvote every single one I can make you unable to post and there's nothing you can do about it other than go to mods.
And I know mods would love the extra overhead of paying attention to that kinda thing.
-
Not just abusable, but limiting of what is communicated. If it could turn off someones posting privileges, then all a down vote says is "You shouldn't be posting here."
I like to use it to say "Poor argument." or "You're being a jerk." or "Hello Arkandel"
-
@Arkandel @Misadventure I don't think @skew was suggesting it but asking if that already existed and was in place, since Cirno claimed it was, if I understand correctly.
-
I always assumed the reputation stuff was meaningless, except in Winning The Internet ways. There have definitely been posters with negative reputation scores before and it hasn't seemed to stop them, but who knows (the admins, probably).
