An open letter to Fallcoast

I'm not sure I understand this thread. Why not just open a new game with all the spheres and use a 2e ruleset?

I think the second edition mechanics are superior for the most part the story parts for 2nd leave me totally cold.
Which story parts?
The God Machine in it's entirety, and making tribal choice in werewolf determine your hunting specialty. I tended to play a lot of spirit focus Iron Masters now they would be simply very urbanized Bone Shadows which it not the same feel to me.
Also I am somewhat biased because the character I am playing now is not possible in 2nd ed changeling at least not the stuff we have seen of it.
How so?
At least in the previews we saw how you escaped from Arcadia determined your seeming. In my case I am playing an Ogre who escaped by trickery (Troll kith, nice bonus to manipulation rolls) meaning that in the new version I would either be a Darkling, changing my contract option and essentially forcing my character down a path I have zero desire to play or I would have to completely alter his backstory about how he escaped.
I also don't like the fact that what you do to escape becomes your seeming because a lot of what I like about changeling is playing tout the self acceptance of what you have become,to me this is lost because it is not an unwilling change but the very tool of your freedom. -
You can still do things like being a spirit-focused iron master, not be anything close to bone shadow (ffs, thr difference in oaths guarantees that), and the themes of both tribes are still heavily different. You just won't get much benefit out of your own use of sacred hunt is all.
-
Adapting any merit not related to combat is... uh. Actually since the success resolution mechanic is pretty much unchanged, you don't really have to. You can just put it in and see if it can keep up.
-
Though I would prefer it if Thaumaturgy/Psi were revised to a large body of merits you can select from, with various traditions getting a few free merits and a bonus die or two on others. Vodoun interacts with animistic spirits. Western occultism also has a tradition of geomancy. Etc.
-
Well, you do have a breadth of psychic merits between the core book and Hurt Locker. However, Thaumaturgy basically went the way of the dodo. I suppose you can emulate it with Wolf-Blooded, the Clever Fingers Tell, and grabbing whatever Rites you saw as appropriate.

Guys I didn't expect @Sonder to be all "yasss throw out all the old and change everything". But making a funny* thread costs me nothing.

Your mom is funny.

Even if you are right, and I think you have a point, it'd be really inappropriate for a game's direction to be influenced by people, many of whom aren't even playing there, on a separate forum. I'd hope FC's people are talking about new, interesting directions to take their MU* in but this isn't the place for it.

Man, you could make jerky just by holding a slice of meat in his vicinity.

I don't think he likes very many people, to be honest.

@tragedyjones It's because you're a flakey motherfucker.

Is this because he's so DRY or so SALTY? This worked on levels, so you get an upvote.

I was going for the latter, but am not above taking credit for more.

Also I will eventually build a multisphere game, when I have a strong volunteer base to handle administration. And who knows the games I dont.
