Great exercises. I love Pallof Presses.
There's this one move -- I don't remember if it even has a name -- which is deceptively hard:
-
Start in a standing position, with legs slightly bent at the knees, feet just outside of shoulder width, and your hands and arms outstretched in front of your sternum.
-
Push your hands down about a foot, and then raise it back to starting. Do these as quickly as you can. You should feel it in your abs, if your legs are bent. And it will look like you're pushing down real hard on a button, like in the Family Feud.
-
Next, start to alternate sides. Twist 45 degrees to the right, and push the button down. Return to rest in the middle. Then, twist 45 degrees to the left, and push the button down. Return to rest. Now, go as fast as you can, back and forth. You'll feel the burn in your obliques and abs.
-
Go faster.
-
Faster.
-
Go for a minute. Feel the burn.
-
Now, pick up a 5 lb. weight in your hands. Do the side-to-side push-downs. Over and over. Fast. Faster.
You'll hurt the next day after doing a set of 5 x 1 minute, with 30 seconds rest in between each move.

RL Things I Love:
I don't have to exercise. I say this because I could never get into the subculture and language of whatever was mentioned above that I could google but I'm far too lazy to.
-
@Thenomain Weeeell, you don't have to do much of anything. You don't have to code, knit, play video games, get into fashion or play a musical instrument. There's esoteric terminology and some very invested communities for all of the above.
To each their own. (Which is what I love)
-
Sure, you don't even have to breathe, eat, drink, or have shelter, Captain Obvious. The whole first tier of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs is optional if you're that way about things. But this isn't a thread about breathing, it's a thread about what you enjoy about life and I enjoy not having to immerse myself in a subculture if I don't want to.
So at least you can let people have that.
-
@Thenomain Sure, and as soon as you point out which of coding, knitting, playing video games, getting into fashion or playing a musical instrument is on the first tier of needs I'll agree with you.
I was bringing up things people do. For fun, as a hobby, as an obsession, as a social thing.
I won't pretend to understand the draw in many of them (there are some knitters here who can speak up!) but I love that they exist and they can be so involved in these things I know nothing about.
-
I'm mentioning my love of freedom of hobbies.
I am honestly confused why this needs debated.

It's the internet.
And it's not a debate: it's a show of penis-lightsaber swashbuckling.

I amongst many others am a great lover of Hamilton, to the point of which I am attending a Hamiltunes event a week from this Friday - it's basically a gathering of a bunch of people to sing along with the soundtrack. This is an exciting prospect though apparently I was insane enough to sign up for a couple of the lead voice solos and now I am sort of rocking back and forth chanting "oh god what did I just do" in the back of my head. I love singing, but I'm extremely critical of my own voice, add to that age and lack of practice making the instrument quite rusty.
-
Commence ta practicin!
-
That's the plan!
Lafayette in "Aaron Burr, Sir"
Hamilton in "Right Hand Man"
Lafayette in "Battle of Yorktown"
Mariah Reynolds in "Say No To This".Over-achiever or deluded fool, maybe both.
-
I would love to be the first woman to play George Washington. I'd kill it.
Also, I walked this dog today.

Are you a tall redhead? Favor dentures and leading armies? What's going on here?

I'm going to tell you a secret. So are all the fancy professional Broadway actors. There is no combination of vanity and insecurity greater than the working professional actor. Even people in giant, groundbreaking shows like Hamilton.
I absolutely guarantee you that if Lin-Manuel Miranda attended your event, he would think you were a fucking amazing rock star.
