Shadows over Reno
-
Shadows Over Reno is a nWoD Second Edition/Chronicles of Darkness game featuring: Vampire: the Requiem 2E; Werewolf: the Forsaken 2E; Hunter: the Vigil using the latest official update material; as well as mortals from the core CofD book.
Shadows Over Reno will be doing a soft opening on Monday November 7th starting at Noon EST. During the soft open we are allowing only one PC to be made for the moment (just so that staff isn't overwhelmed by people trying to make five or six alts at once).
For all players that have played on or heard of Reno MUX, Shadows Over Reno is the same server, but features an updated/changed map, new story, rules changes, a new headstaff, and a complete wipe of all characters. To be clear: Same server, a lot of the same code, but a whole new game (and not a continuation of the previous story).
Characters will start at 35 xp (+5 for a written background).
The following are restricted at character creation:
- Blood Potency 5+
- Primal Urge 5+
- Status 3+ - This is for Covenants, etc.
- Dual Covenants - We aren't supporting Dual Covenants on the game.
- Mystery Cult Initiation - We don't currently have any PC Mystery Cults.
We will be implementing The Pack and Secrets of the Covenants as we go along. Secrets of the Covenants will be longer to implement due to it being in rewrites continually, so we are keeping track of the merits.

So how do you plan on producing a different result than Reno 1.0?
-
@lordbelh My actual question is... if everything is new - characters, story. game even - then why Reno?
-
MOTHERFUCKING GODDAMNIT @SKEW IT IS CHRONICLES OF DARKNESS AND YOU KNOW IT YOU STUPID HORSEFUCKER.
-
I'm considering either LS or OD... anyone around here rolling into these Covenants?
-
@lordbelh As stated, I'm posting this on behalf of Wendigo, who doesn't MSB. Honestly, I don't know "Reno 1.0" very well at all. I played for a short time and it was a year or more ago. What I do know is that I trust Wendigo to do a good job.
@Arkandel There's probably a lot I can say here but... why not?
@tragedyjones I have no response to that.
-
@skew Am hoping Wendigo will some day pop up here -- I think things would be OK if the hog pit is avoided, honestly. She's good people, for one, is generally spoken highly of here, and there is some useful info in the other areas that I know has been really helpful for me at times.

I've been toying with an Icarian Crusader. He will basically be a Space Marine, maybe a Chaplain.
The other concept that might work is one that I've been toying with for years as a Dragon.
The concept that's currently winning out is a Carthian looking to force the creation of the Brujah's dream of New Carthage.
Then again, I might just fall back into a broody Crone, like I always do.
-
@Ganymede Either way come play! I'm rolling a Dragon after all, still refining his background now. I've never played one before (my last two vampires were LS and Crone) so it's high time I gave OD a chance.
-
@Ganymede broody LS please!
-
-
Depending on what gets added from SotC, I was also thinking anot Inquisition sort.
-
Ark, if you're not a bitter, angry ivory tower academic OD, I'm gonna be disappointed. I don't know what I'm playing yet, but If there's no tweed, what's even? All odds!
ES
-
@EmmahSue Of course there is going to be tweed involved, he's a newspaper correspondent and writer. But there's also a fedora hat and leather jacket in the closet with a hatchet in a satchel at its bottom.
I'm gonna play a pulp fiction-inspired treasure hunter who steps out of retirement (and ennui) to help out an old friend. Come explore the unknown!

I had put together a Nosferatu concept which I wanted to try out. He's an Azerkatil with the Giant Merit and Physical Disciplines out the yin-yang, but he just wants to be a singer. Not that he's any good at it, but he's a regular in the local karaoke scene. He doesn't understand why he never wins any of the competitions, and he's just strong enough not to frenzy on everyone when he places out of the top 3.
Sure, he's good with sneaking up on people, grappling them, burning their vitae out of them, and then pulling their head off. But he really just wants a shot at The Voice.
Did I mention he had a harsh Balkan accent?
But @Arkandel convinced me that I should join his little band of Gangrel, and so I have.
Thus, the concept is back on the shelf. FOR NOW.
-
How do we know that's not a Nosferatu in Gangrel clothing?
Turns on the music

Goddammit, that sounds like the best character ever. A 'quirky concepts'/TV reality/blow off steam place is on my list of never-finished-things, but if I ever manage it, please come and play that character on it. Because that is so amazing it just needs to be a thing somewhere, so help me god.

Okay. His version of STP's Plush is just a little off.

I'm sorry, but I'm cooking up a sexpot Gangrel because if I don't, someone else will and do it poorly.

...damn you. Now I want to remake my fail ghoul as your ghoul, just so if I say, "Nah, she's too busy painting to go look for random dudes to fuck," I won't get an OOC lecture on how I'm a polyshamer, because in a sane world, that's what would happen.
Because fallen NYC socialite artists with 'Bitch' as a vice and dots in the Etiquette merit are, apparently, too much fun. I still miss the shit out of her, she was fucking hilarious. Weirdest Bruja ghoul ever.

You should. We should talk. PM me. I could use a ghoul that's sensible and smart. The concept is still fluid, so the quicker I talk to potential constant-RP-mates, the better.
(So far, the concept is "celebrity" shrink: she basically flits among socialites and well-to-do'ers peddling services and advice, when all she's really doing is seducing them and getting their shit.)
