DC Game Wanted
-
So after the week long cross over event, plus hardcore binging of Young Justice, Justice League, and JLU, I am seriously jonesing for a DC game to play on. Preferably one that doesn't have every single DC lady already covered (they go so fast).
Anything like that out there?
-
Think your best bet will be to look for a new/newish game. Only way to guarantee you will have a chance at one of the female DC FCs.
-
@Apu There are like, a million female DC FCs! Unless games allow people to hog a bunch with alts I don't see why that'd be needed.
-
I know there are a lot of obscure or not-commonly played characters of either sex/gender to lay claim to but not a lot of people enjoy RPing as lesser-known FCs. That's why I said what I did.
-
I want a Young Justice/Teen Titans game, myself. Maybe expanded to the teen Titans concept in the movie where Starfire is a sort of headmistress of a teen/young hero training team. Bring in some of the JLAers as mentors like in YJ. That'd be pretty cool.
Alas.
-
I'll settle for a game that has the Legion of Super-Heroes.
-
@Vorpal: I'd be so down with that, except I love the notion of Starfire as a teen, herself. Maybe Black Canary as headmistress instead, a la Young Justice.
-
@Autumn I was just thinking earlier today how much I'd love to see a game centered on the Legion.
-
@Cupcake That would work, too. Oh for a game like that.
It's not likely to come, I'm afraid
-
I share the love of the Legion but that fan base is pretty intensely fragmented on which version is the "real" one. I know most comic fan bases are but that franchise seems to be more divided I would fear a game centered on would be hard to manage.

@ThatGuyThere
Make your own Legion that takes the cool shit from all of them? -
@Bobotron
That would be my answer. And I think a Legion game would be awesome, even if one i am not likely to play. -

Make your own Legion that takes the cool shit from all of them?That's really the only way that makes sense to me. There was a kitchen-sink comic book game some years back that basically took this approach, so you could have (at least in theory) White Triangle Andromeda interacting with Levitz Rokk. I'd be tempted to go a step further and have more than one version of every character available.

That set up already has some published backing as well given the Legion of Three Worlds mini-series, where you did have multiple versions of most characters appearing.

@ThatGuyThere
Right. Flashpoint did fuck up a LOT of stuff. You could easily say that the 31st Century dimensional fabric is weak and there's the likelihood of people from Dimensions B and C popping through to Dimension A, which is the primary. -
Sadly the Legion continuity was pretty badly messed with by every major DC crossover starting with COIE , the Legion of Three Worlds example is from Final Crisis. Zero Hour did a complete reboot of Legion continuity.
No idea what has been done with them since Flashpoint since that was the point I stopped buying DC, (I stopped buying Marvel shortly before that.) -
Part of me has entertained the seeming insanity of seeing how much support a LSH-based MU* might have. I never really got into the Legion until Brave and the Bold MUSH, which used the Zero Hour reboot of Legion continuity -- the Threeboot stuff with Final Crisis and Legion of Three Worlds didn't hold all that much appeal to me, though (probably because Kinetix was one of my favorite female characters in the Zero Hour continuity, and they went and killed her off there).
My idea, though, was to blend Zero Hour reboot with certain other elements -- the introduction of Rokk, Imra and Garth in Smallville and their plans for Brainiac Five, for instance. But then, I've also understood that the Legion is gonna play a decent role in the last half of Supergirl Season Two, so I'm interested to see where that goes.

I don't know anything from anything comic-MUSH-wise since I've barely played but it sounds like agreeing on which exact version of properties to run is a divisive factor in that community? Is that right?
I mean it might just be the MSB effect but some of the posts in similar threads have have been like "if the Flash is Barry Allen I hate it and I won't play there full stop" and whatnot.

Let's just say that the proponents for the different versions of the Legion of Super-Heroes are like the Sharks and the Jets. Except without Tony and Maria to make it romantically tragic. It's just tragic.
It would definitely be best to just create one's own version of the Legion to avoid that.
-
@TNP But doesn't it fragment comic games a lot? I don't mean to be facetious here, it's not a rhetorical question - is this an issue or is it the aforementioned MSB effect making it sound like a bunch of people just can't compromise on the exact version of comic-book gaming they can tolerate before a MU* is essentially unplayable for them?
