Welcome <GUEST>. Please review the following before proceeding.Resident Evil: Redefined is a brand-new MUSH set within a 'redefined' version of the Resident Evil universe and is aimed at fans of the series as well as newcomers who may not have a clue about the series. Whether you're a fan of horror, action, biopunk, survival horror or even stuff like The Walking Dead; there is bound to be something for you.
Set in 2005, the world of RE:R is not much different than the regular world with the exception of the growing threat of bioweapons and by extension, bioterror. At the forefront of this biological research, is the enigmatic and omnipotent Umbrella Corporation. Set in the idyllic and prosperous Raccoon City, our game is set to open as the initial outbreak of a deadly pathogen known as the T-Virus begins.
We offer players the ability to create original characters or pickup characters from a roster of pre-generated characters. Whether original or roster, you are guaranteed to start with the same potential and nobody has a special version of Character Generation.
In addition, our game is designed around a larger story that is shaped by players through plots and interaction; helping them accomplish the goals they want to and take part in the kind of events they desire.
Presently, we are in Beta and are looking for players to come join us as well as potential staff helpers.
Will you survive the Horror?

Any idea if it's game canon or movie canon?
Actually nvm! I've been spending too much time doing timeline stuff that 2005 would annoy me too much to play there. Things are so messed up as it is.
-
@Insomnia
I think it's their own canon from talking with the person who made it/posted the ad, they'll be using some events from both and integrating and creating their own timeline stuff, so it's not straight Resident Evil timeline of either. -
Yeah, I think that would break my brain. Why not just say zombies at that point? Unless they are Gaiden Truthers and that it's canon. I could get behind that.
Thanks for he heads up though!

@Insomnia
I suppose because RE has a lot of it's own inbuilt plothooks rather than generic zombies. What was mentioned to me was that they're using RE1 and RE2 as framework starting out, and integrating aspects of the Hive stuff from the movie into it. Like, we explicitly talked about stuff like doing the whole Raccoon City infestation/infection, with openness for players to affect the story. I don't think it'd break your brain as much as you think, unless you don't want them to deviate from canon in any way. -
The date breaks my brain. I get that's when the movies come out but the games and the live action movies my take place in the same universe, but each have their own canon. (Start date, Umbrella and how it does things,who is alive, what's under the Raccoon City / Arklay mountains). The continuities really don't smoosh well together. It's cool they are doing something new, but they are going to have to go through a lot of work saying what isn't cannon from both if they are going to pick and choose elements.
I mean the game has a live action movie, audio dramas, novels, (but not the SD Perry ones), comics 9the magna but not the comics), the CGI movies, ports (but not all some games are what if scenarios, some are simulators, and the remakes usually add / change / contradict older games, and the remake of 2 is supposedly a complete remake not a re-skinning) ,some are from a different perspective, and a stage play (but not the musical) in it's continuity.
And sure, it also has Chris punching a fucking rock into a volcano to kill the bad guy...
If they want to include Outbreak, they are going to want to include Nemesis as well (RE 2 actually takes place during the middle of RE 3; Jill fights stuff, gets knocked out at the clock tower, 2 happens, Claire and Leon leave, Jill wakes up and continues on and leaves herself.) Also Outbreak files 1 and 2. And 0 is 24 hrs before 1. Oh and read the Wesker files, but unless they speak Japanese they will have to rely on translations and since they are the original file from Japan...
I've been working on and off for a lore video last couple of months because of the 20th anniversary. I'm not obsessed, I swear!

Harambe was alive in 2005, which makes 2005 better than 2016

Does the Chalupa have henticles, with which I can flail about awkwardly and have the peanut gallery shout 'I HAVE SEEN ENOUGH HENTAI TO KNOW WHERE THIS IS GOING!'?

This needs a necro bump.
The game is pretty detailed, the people are pretty cool, xp bloat is a thing but really less important since the rules limit how many times a person may act to begin with and there's plenty of room for everyone to shine or die since the PC's are typically outnumbered, or big bads are /big fucking bads/ and no single person is going to win against them anyways.
Lots of nice folk and it's interesting to see how they've melded the movies and the games together. Currently they're at the start of Resident Evil 3 as far as timeline goes iirc. Also pretty active and there are ways to advance without having to get into every plot scene.

Nemesis or Extinction?
-
@Insomnia Dunno honestly.
-
This post is technically a necro-bump... which is a fairly apt term, since Kitten (or Red Queen, to use her old name on the game) has been Kitten, and has largely ditched the game for her Fallout game (El Dorado) and some new horror game, in spite of repeated promises to the contrary. The place is presently on hiatus until the beginning of next year.
-
It should also be noted that Kitten, AKA Red Queen, is also Vault Girl and Elsa, who you can read all about in numerous threads for Fallout: El Dorado, as well as Brave New World. Anyone who values integrity, honesty, and... I dunno... not being abused relentlessly and needlessly by a megalomaniac tyrant should probably steer clear if/when this game comes back.
-
Will steer clear ONLY because they won't let me play a bioweapon. Rabble rabble.
