Coming Soon: Arx, After the Reckoning

<shudders> The goggles they do nothing.
i know this is the old musher in me yelling at kids to get off his lawn but the horrid ANSI colors (basically any use of color) is the major reason I could never try mud-like games. I am sure I could learn new commands but I don't think I could ever get used the bright.
-
Maaan. It is hard for me to get into Arx. Been WAY to long since I've been on a large game with people actually involved in more than just their specific circles. I haven't even been on a large game since I left Fallcoast like.. months ago.
So, outside of Cobalt (who I got a connection too) I am open to being prodded for relationship connections. I am Mailys. I kinda AWOL from my computer and forget I did not disconnect or go OOC.
It takes me a small spell to get into a new setting for me but once I got, I got it.

I'm usually amused at my own reaction to ANSI coloring.
I'm willing to bet other people aren't as amused as you are.
Did you have a point, or did you want to start a fight based on what might or might not be; there are people ahead of you in line for that. I mean, I know there are others who are amused, some of them are those that I gnash my teeth about ANSI color abuse to.
Believe me, I know what it's like to defend people you think are defenseless, but it's not helpful to start a slap-fight over it. Sometimes people do it specifically for the lulz or to not be helpful, but there's a name that the modern internet has for those people.
The purpose of my statement is to give people the go-ahead to ignore me for having purely personal views. I can pull out the design philosophy as why I hold those views, so my opinions do have some backup, but I'm also aware when my opinions are stick-up-ass pretentious like they were there.
-
@Thenomain My only point was that you were being rude. You clearly have a lot more feelings about it than I do.

You did just as a good job about expressing it as I did about how my opinion, no matter how strongly I felt about it, wasn't important.

You also won't play a comics MU* if Barry Allen is the Flash! Your will-not-play peeves list must be a long-ass document dude.

I never said that what I said was I can't/won't watch the Flash TV show because Barry is the Flash. I would play on a supers MU with Barry as the Flash, I just would not RP with the Barry-Flash.
And yes the list of things I would reject a game or RPing with someone for is rather lengthy, I will not deny that. -
@Sunny No, Belladonna is the best. Sylvie is a super close second for sure! Or some order that doesn't really matter.
And I love doing ascii/ansi art. I don't care what anyone says. I don't usually do colors like that, but anyone on game can probably vouch for me being willing to help out with abusing the poor ansi more.
-
Ansi to your heart's content. Ignore the haters, who probably wouldn't understand joy or fun if it bit them in the facehole.
-
Yeah, you guys. Sheesh.
-
@Thenomain Oh, I meant you. Not too shy to say it.
-
Yeah, you guys. Putting limitations on fun-having are entirely against the idea of fun-having, and complaints against things you think are fun are never valid.
That was sarcasm. Because "anything you want" is an anathema to fun-having, a poison to it. We recognize the joy of Calvinball as the exception that proves the rule.
-
@Thenomain Could you please just stop being rude and/or hateful in our advertisement thread because you think you are my nemesis? I would appreciate it a lot, on behalf of our players.
-
I was more just making a statement, not weighing the validity of your complaints, @Thenomain. (I am not a professional weigher of what complaints are valid nor whether they should be listened to.) I mean, you can continue to dislike it. I like it. I dislike some other things that other people do, fairly or unfairly. Thus is life.
Insert something hippie-ish here, please.

@Roz had it covered. @Meg had it covered. Hell, even I had it covered. I was leaving it alone until you called me out, and you called me out in an extremely snarky way. I've asked you multiple times to quit, and asked you to bury the hatchet. This being the first time you've asked me to anything--certainly the first time you've treated me with anything but disdain, here--I invite you to look into the mirror and let it go. (Singing optional.)
That is, of course I'm willing. Are you willing?
I have an extremely hard time reading blocks of text with low contrast, and even moreso when the contrast jumps around like an Alt-Right activist watching a Nazi get punched. I recognized that I was being a bit of a dick, kind of hinted at it, Roz called me out and I kkiiiiinda said I was? Regardless, I was. Regardless, I was also right; low-contrast and inconsistent text is bad design. Is what @Meg did fun design? Yes! Does it matter to @Meg what I think? Not one bit!
Am I going to stop pointing things like this out just because one staffer can't handle negative feedback from someone she doesn't like? No. Sorry. Arx is a fine game designed by a fine and level-headed man. It needs some serious work on its educational files (is there anything explaining the "reflection" or whatver the nickname for the land beyond death is yet?), but he knows this. He's failed to insult me, has talked me off the roof, and so I trust his judgement.
I clearly don't mind you making this about me, @Kanye-Qwest, but you really should stop. The game doesn't need this much defending, and certainly not from me.
It's all good. Sorry if what I said was complete ass-hattery. See Paragraph 3 above as to why the reaction. Sometimes the User Experience part of my education meets the unfiltered WORA (pre-Soapbox) personality, which really needs a good steaming hot cup of shut-the-fuck-up.
-
Dude. You just said you admitted to being a dick. You recognized you were being a dick. You have owned up to your dickishness. And yet, in her own advertisement thread, @Kanye-Qwest is not allowed to call you out on being a dick, in direct response to the dickery that you have confessed to?
C'mon. That's not cool.
Also? Arx is a fine game designed by a fine team, one of whom happens to have a vagina instead of a penis. WTF does being a man have anything to do with the design of the game?

Gotta say I have the same read on this that Caryatid does.
