Gotten lost in Elder Scrolls Online.
Please send help. Or play with me.
-
The latest update to a game I'm playing has caused no fewer than three critical bugs, i.e., bugs that prevent progress in the game. I hate that by having bought this game, I have effectively paid the company for the privilege of being their QA staff.
This is why I should know better than to buy games until they've been out for at least a year.

I gave it a shot when it came out but wasn't in love with it. Now I feel it's gotten so much extra content I'd never catch up with it.
-
@derp Same. I just couldn't get into it. Mostly because I don't really like MMOs. But, I've had a longing to play an Elder Scrolls game and, after being told I could totally play this more or less solo and in first person view, I was pretty much sold.
And all the extra content just means I'll have plenty to do.

I can't get into MMOS, because I played the best MMO ever made, Asheron's Call, back when it was released in '98. Until other MMOs manage to have a continual updating story with monthly updates that make alterations to quest lines, geography of the world, etc, they're stuck in the pre-AC days of EQ, which is simply a glorified fantasy theme park.

I hate that this has become the NORM. I've been having this issue with a different game I play as well. But when I mentioned on the game's Discord that I didn't appreciate paying full price for a supposed 'completed game (ie. not an Early Access) only to have it riddled with so many bugs as to seem to still be in BETA... the community started screeching about how this was just how things are and that I should have more patience. The simple fact that entire generations are being conditioned to accept paying full price for incomplete games is ridiculous.

So Final Fantasy XIV is pretty good. I know, no one has heard this yet.
But being ahead of everyone else in my FC has meant I can watch their impending heartbreaks with glee.
It's a good feeling.

Much belated but... Guild Wars 2 does pretty much all of that. They have a 'living story' that drops new content every 1-2 months, on top of the expansions that have come out (the third major expansion is nearing release). Major updates to the story HAVE altered the game world, fairly significantly in places. Oh, its also FTP through the main game. The base game that I paid over $100 (cause I pre-ordered the extra special version) for? You can play all the way through without paying a dime. Also no subscription. If you like the game, you can buy the expansions. Each one adds entire new worlds, multiple maps, new story, new quests, new classes or elite specs. And the in-game RL money store is strictly cosmetic, so no pay to win.

I miss WoW. I really do. Or, rather, I miss my guild and the socialization around running M+ every evening.
But they treat their employees like shit and I can't condone that. I'm just sad because at some point they'll put Diablo IV out and I might not play it, either.
-
@arkandel Diablo 4 has been delayed, today. No due date now.
-
@grayson Well at some point.

Just think of our feels for Endwalker. I leave this picture as evidence supporting my claim of feels to be had:

The newest DLC for Elder Scrolls Online has dropped and I'm having a good time with it. It's really been scratching that Elder Scrolls itch while waiting for Elder Scrolls 6.
You know, it'll come out maybe by the time I'm 50 if I'm lucky. And I'd still play it. That said, shame I got into ESO only about 11 years too late, because while I know I have a lot of content to play through yet, it's still a good game I think. Feels like it really caters to the solo player crowd while still having plenty of group stuff to do.
-
I really, really tried to give this game a chance. I did.
But I just don't think that I can MMO. Seeing other people run past me in dungeons, doing apparently the same stuff I am supposed to be doing, or seeing them run past in fights and being unable to determine if these are NPCs I am fighting or just rando other players at the quickest glance without some really ugly HUD stuff --
I just can't man. I want so badly to like and play this game but it breaks my head that I cannot un-Multiplayer this game.
I just want my single player ES.

I have to second Guild Wars 2 (which was mentioned either here or somewhere else, I don't recall). It's a lot of fun, it's updated often, the basic game is free so can be tried for no cost, and most amazingly of all, the other players are incredibly helpful. I can't think of a single troll that I've encountered.
-
@derp Same reason I bounced off ESO. The decision not to instance most quest points in ESO is one that continues to baffle me. It is not 2000, and I should not have to wait in a line to kill a boss at the end of a dungeon!
-
@pyrephox I guess that doesn't really bother me as I've never played MMOs until ESO, so I never really had an experience where it wasn't like that. I'm also one of those weirdos that loots everything even when he doesn't need. Nor do I run past mobs, I fight the ones I see. Which does make the game take longer, but I don't mind that.
Really, I'm just here for the stories on the game and ESO lore. I tend to ignore the other players unless I need to do a arena or trial or group dungeon.

@derp To be fair
I pick up everything to usually deconstruct it. Because them mats doe.

That was probably me. I love to praise GW2 up and down every chance I get. XD I will say that I do see trolls (usually in the hub cities) but they don't last long. They get laughed and mocked and flagged VERY quickly. Guild Wars mods don't fuck around when it comes to trolls/racism/sexism/etc. Its been a pure pleasure to play the game for the last 9 years.
