Death From Above is really good for killing tanks, as a note.
On another note I finally finished the campaign but it was rendered bittersweet through the loss of a leg mounted double heat sink on my Royal SDLF Highlander. Completely impossible to replace!
I really cannot praise whomever composed the painted cutscenes enough, combined with the music they are beautiful.

@packrat
A patch coming this summer will actually allow you to have rare spawn SLDF mechs that will give you double heat sink , gauss rifles, ammo, partial mech salvage, and the other components that were available to the SLDF at the time of the Amaris Civil War. These spawn chances will also have a chance to only appear on worlds where you take contracts that have the SLDF, Ruins, or Battlegrounds tags. Other tags may be used as well but those are the ones being discussed so far. -

Why take leg damage from a DFA? Just run up and stomp them. All melee attacks kill tanks easy.
-
@lithium Well it hits a fair bit harder, which might let you one shot something like a Demolisher instead of it getting to fire, also you can DFA further than you can run and punch.
It is generally something I do in convoy missions where the targets are charging off the edge of the map whilst raining PPCs or AC20 fire and look like they might escape though to be honest I mostly just avoid the hell of convoy missions.
-
@packrat DFA'ing further than run and punching depends on how many jump jets you have, and what the terrain is. You cannot jump further than your walking speed, so level terrain you will jump the same distance as you can walk.
-
@lithium you can jump further than you can walk depending on jumpjet size/amount compared to tonnage but afaik your limit is your sprint distance
-
It is definitely an exception and not something that I like to open with but if a fight is drawing to a close and there is a choice between dropping my Grasshopper with fresh leg armour onto an enemy or let them shoot? While I likely have mechs with very thin or open armour sections?
I would rather have both legs shaved to 1/3 armour and at minimum half of an Orion or something ripped off than let that Orion light up a vulnerable mech. A Grasshopper DFA (with six small lasers) is a LOT of damage.
-
@magee101 I've tried putting more than 5 jump jets on a shadow hawk. It definitely can't jump as far as it can sprint.
-
@lithium You cannot jump further than you can sprint (maybe with the Spider that is made out of jumpjets?) but you can definitely jump a lot of mechs further than they can walk. This is key because you can still shoot or brace after jumping.
-
@packrat Seriously I don't think you can. It just seems that way because the terrain is very rarely level and thus the jump jets continue beyond the normal walking range due to terrain. I will do more testing but... even a spider can't jump further than it can walk as far as I can tell.
-
I swear, Beat Saber is the Force Sensitivity detector that we didn't know we needed.
-
@lithium Light mechs are different, they can walk pretty far compared to heavier mechs. A shadow hawk on level ground can walk 4 squares. With full jumpjets it can go atleast 6 squares.
-
@magee101 I shadowhawk can walk 5 squares, and run 8.
-
@lithium Is your shadowhawk fully tonned?
-
@magee101 Yeeeees. 55/55
-
@lithium guess I suck then! lol, but I do know the jump range is just a wee bit further than the walk range on level ground for medium mechs anyways. Not sure about heavies. Light mechs iirc have way better vertical jump compared to any other mech class.

So, Subnautica is really good. Also, it was an awesome surprise to have two familiar voice actors (more famously known from Battlefield Friends) show up in the middle of the game for what has to be one of my favorite cameos in game history.
It's the "ham and cheese" transmission, if you're curious and know what I'm talking about.

Get your dangle dongles ready, ladies and germs. Conan Exiles is out of early access as of today.

@apu After playing early access I'm kind of stoked to see the new lore releases. Not a big fan of the forced 3rd person combat they have now, but whatevs.
