DC Rebirth

Haha, thanks for the update. And I hope you're feeling better!
Didn't want to seem like I'm rushing you or anything, it's just kind of strangely fortuitous. A couple weeks ago, I was practically at the point of wanting to make a comic game from scratch with a friend, just because I wanted a change of pace, but also a 'fresh start' somewhere.
You guys saved me a lot of work! (Work that I was never going to do anyways, to be quite honest. But still!)
-
@ZombieGenesis When your character roster becomes available can you post a link please? I'm not sure who I'd like to play but I might be inspired by a list.
-
In my experience with superhero games, I've only seen one with an actual 'roster'. (And it was relatively defunct, to be quite honest. Hundreds of pretty useless names.) Unless @ZombieGenesis says otherwise, I'd probably assume the roster is "dc characters, with a few super mega god tier characters banned/restricted" (then again, this is DC, not Marvel, everybody's on that tier, BA DUM TSS).
-
@Tempest Oh, okay. I have near-zero experience with superhero MU*.

In general the roster builds as people request characters and then idle out before apping or drop soon after (or long after). Usually comic book games don't delete charbits, they just blank them.
I would really like a comic book game that didn't blank charsheets and didn't require you to write your entire character's app "in your own words" including powers, abilities, whatnot.
What a fucking waste of time.
P.S. I got super excited when I thought this was going to be a game set in the actual Flashpoint reality, with a warring Atlantis and Themyscira, etc...
Ah well.

Really a good point. I mean, yeah, yeah, you need to make sure the player knows the difference between Spider-Man and a potato, but let's be honest...Filling in an app doesn't really do that. Pull up comicvine, paraphrase shit, get approved, do whatever you want IC.
-
@Coin I couldn't agree more about the "In your own words". I've done everything I can to streamline the process as much as possible. I'm hoping people will find our character generation swift and easy. Using the combination of an existing RPG (DC Heroes) and letting people use Comic Vine for their backgrounds should help with that a lot.
Also, there's nothing saying we can't have a war between Atlantis and Themyscira...

As much as it did other things wrong in my opinion, this is one point Hero Mux got spot on. They left sheets in place so if you picked up a character the app was just four questions mostly about selecting which version you were playing and how you saw your character fitting into the game instead of having to fully re-sheet.
If you wanted to change a characters abilities when you took them over then you had to do the full sheet app but if not you could get it done fairly easily with a lot less writing. -
@Tempest I'm kinda glad I wasn't the only one doing that.

with a mediawiki all its own. We'll be using wikidot till the mediawiki is fully up and running but hopefully that won't take too long.
Wanted to add a yay for this. I know wikidot is the staple go-to for hero games, but damn mediawiki is so much better if someone can host it, or is willing to pay for it.
Wikis are important!

Well now is as good a time as ever. I think we're about as good as we're going to get without being 100%. If you're interested in checking us out you can connect to us at dcrebirthmux.com:2001. We have a temporary wiki up at http://dc-rebirth.wikidot.com/.
I'm on as Dark Souls but I'm at work so may be prone to idles or ghosting out. Hopefully there's enough up to get people started but if you have any questions just let me know and I'll answer em just as soon as I can.

Whoo!

QUERY
Not covered on the website. Can you app for OC other lanterns besides Green? -
@Bobotron Absolutely. I think writeups.org has examples of some of the rings. Eventually I'll have a section of the wiki devoted to each of the ring colors.
-
Sweet. I'm well-versed in the rings from story-mechanics. I will look into it as I have an idea for a Blue Lantern of Earth.
-
And alas, I was late to the party and missed out on the main types I was hoping to be able to consider. I'll have to think about who to app and hope by the time I decide, they're not taken too.
-
Sorry to hear that! There's still toooons of people available, so hopefully you find somebody you like. I think there's at most like 15 characters claimed so far, though admittedly most of them are of the 'flagship' variety.
I could be mistaken (hard to keep track of who's been made yet), but I think the only 'young' people claimed on the chica side are Kara and Cassie.
Seems like a nice crowd so far.
-
It kind of hit me that I'm really, really oblivious to New 52. So whoever I'm inclined to look at, I need to make sure I'm acquainted with that version.
-
For the record, they appear to be okay with non-n52 versions of characters, it just appears to be that the n52 version is assumed to be the 'default', for purposes of making things easier.
-
Now that the holiday season is over, I find myself checking this place out to get a decent DC comics fix.
Has there been much activity? When are players usually on to get things going?
