I am sorry. That just sucks.

Thank you.
on the upside, when I was finally brave enough to go into Sephora and ask, the girl I found has clients with vitiligo so she was able (and comfortable) to show me some things and help me find a concealor that, while not perfect, helps. -
I'm sorry. I hope this isn't affecting your self-esteem too much; please treat yourself with love.
-
People who know the art of makeup are wizards I swear. Magical. I'm glad you found somebody helpful.

I'm trying.
Going on a coffee date and having the guy hyper focus on my visible scars and want to know all about them did not help.
I think I found what's worse than someone who is bothered by scars. That guy.
-
@Auspice As a guy who thinks scars/freckles/vitiligo/unique thingsetc is super cool and pretty... I never wanted to be /that/ guy.

I've been with guys who appreciated my scars, but he was..... I felt like I was a......an exhibit in a museum or something.
-
@Auspice I'm not that guy, but I will say one of the most gorgeous and intriguing strippers I ever met had vitiligo. I didn't know what it was at the time, but she wasn't shy about it at all.
-
Just as an FYI, Winnie Harlow has vitiligo and was on America's Next Top Model.

Not old enough.

@Macha said in RL things I love:
I only just found out about peak week too. I'm not an asthma sufferer (by some small miracle), but my allergies are killing me. My voice is shot. I sound like that one kid in the Brady episode with his voice cracking.
moving the discussion here because I feel weird having it in the RL Things I Love thread:
My allergies have been bad this year. Texas is, so far, the worst for me re: ragweed and the like. I've never had allergies as bad as I do here. Benadryl and the like has become my friend.

Insurance kicks in on the 1st.
I just scheduled a dental appt. We'll see if I manage to keep it. :X

I pay not one but two companies for short-term disability insurance, as I have health issues that make this wise and it is always better to be safe than sorry...
Except BOTH of them are dragging this out well beyond reasonable. I am having a nightmare of an experience. One company noted my extension, wrote approval in, acknowledged receipt of what they needed, then clicked closed instead of extend. The other "lost" my paperwork. Repeatedly. Then found it and acknowledged receipt of when they got it...and put me at the end of the line with all the new ones.
Mind you, my heart issue is heavily impacted by stress.
FML.
I'll be okay. At the end of the day, I will be. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, things are now moving, the bad is done and will improve from here. But I don't and won't actually feel better until it is actually resolved because who expects an insurance company to lose your paperwork to begin with.
(ETA: yes folks, this is why I have not been around. Sorry not sorry for venting.)
-
I wish you the best of luck, and offer a venting wall to yell at if you need to.
On another note, I'm attempting to quit smoking again. And getting back into running. And slipping back into ketosis.
I will be fussy.

@Sunny Venting is what this is here for. Sometimes just getting it out helps.

So, bougie time.
I'm looking to set up a wireless mesh system in my new house. What's best? I hear that Google Nest Wifi is coming out in the middle of October, but should I wait? Is there a better system out there?
The attraction of Google Nest Wifi is that I have a Nest thermostat. I was looking at the Amazon system, and it looks pretty neat; it just picked up Eero. But the best rated systems are NetZero's and Linksys's systems. That said, there are reportedly issues with Nest working with other mesh systems.
Anyone have any opinions or suggestions?

I clearly learned nothing from Intolerable Cruelty, so I donβt understand your surprise.
