That, and promoting body self issues through this crap. You don't need to be 11% body fat to be strong or healthy.

No, you don't, but many, many, many women don't work out to end up strong or healthy. Many, many, many women are convinced that they have to work out to look good, which, as you'll likely conclude, doesn't necessarily mean strong or healthy.

The same with men. Being big and buff or lean and lithe does not mean you're healthy -- or even as strong as you could be. Pro-wrestlers look really awesome, but most of them are rotting or broken on the inside (not emotionally).

Still, videos are good for form, and I think that, no matter what your gender is, find a trainer that you like to watch or listen to, and use them.

I took a new position within my company.
It doesn't pay any better. In fact, once I factor in commuting, I'll make less.
But it'll take me off a project that has been stressing me out and had me fighting outright quitting day after day (sometimes hour after hour).

I thought I did the right thing, because it'll have me working out of their local office. I'll meet people! I'll be doing something new!

But I haven't worked out of the house in 7 years.
I start on Tuesday and I'm so anxious about it that I'm sick.

I don't think you sound condescending, that sounds accurate. It's part of my peeve here, this shit is easy to miss because it's happening to someone else...

This isn't directed at you. Or anyone really.

But that's like half the definition of privilege.

Sadly that should be not just emotionally. I love pro wrestling but it is a mental and physical meat grinder for most involved.

Back cracked during the last squat rep this morning, spent a couple of hours in the ER. But at least the doctor was fine about weight training, she advised to just bring the weight a bit down after the symptoms go away and work back up.

I'm not supposed to walk a lot. Or really intensive exercise in general. Light / low-impact is the order of the day. Hooray for fibro and fucked up joints and arthritis. But here I took this job thing that requires (until I get a car) I walk 2 miles a day.

Three days in and today, day 4, I'm going to have to shell out for an Uber. My foot is in rough shape. Like, 'if I don't I'm probably going to urgent care if not the ER over the weekend' bad shape. Cause when I walk/run too much, my calf muscles fuck with the ligaments in my feet. And, well, medical care would cost me more than jus Ubering to work.

This is what I get for being stubborn. I thought the less stress (the position is way less stressful) and $75 more a month would be worth it. I'm really starting to wonder. 3 hours of commuting each day migh've been a shit trade-off.

@Auspice I know this isn't a real solution, especially depending on weather or road conditions, but is there a chance an inexpensive bicycle might help? There'd be way less impact and wear and tear for your foot, plus you could cover those 2 miles much faster. It'd be cheaper in the long run than regular Uber rides.

@Arkandel @Auspice Ark's right, a bike would make 2 miles be quick as heck and would not cause anywhere near the amount of wear and tear. Walking 2 miles with arthritis is rough... I can't even imagine with fibro and the ligament/tendon issue.

Unfortunately, with current demands on my expenses, I wouldn't be able to afford one until January at the earliest. 😕 And I was thinking about it yesterday - the final stretch of my daily commute is nearly half a mile, wholly uphill. I was never, ever (even as a kid) good at biking uphill. I'd be that dumbass walking her bike up the damn thing.

Last I looked at bikes, even the cheaper ones were still $200~. I've gotten my car options down to $500 down. I should just wait the extra month or two it takes me to save at that point.

@Auspice Hmm, maybe carpooling then? If any of your coworkers start at a similar time and don't live too far from you, I don't see why they wouldn't like to split the gas - and that's also way cheaper than an Uber.

Once we have more people in the office, I'm hoping to do that. Unfortunately, right now, there's 4 of us an no one lives on the side of town I do. But! We're looking to bring in 4-5 more people. I have my fingers crossed one of them will live somewhere nearby me that I can toss money at for gas, yes.

ETA: That is if any of them are on the same schedule I am. That's the other tricksy bit.

@Auspice I don't know about where you are but there are used bicycle shops near me where I can find a nice one for $100-$125. Also, Craigslist. If you get a folding one, you can easily get it on the bus.
