Yeah, they have looked dreadful through the first six games.
The first six games of a 80+ game season.
I mean, you could blame Antti Raatta, but he still has a .911 save percentage. That's better than your vaunted Devan Dubnyk, who is sporting a .893 save percentage and a worse goals against average.
The problem with the 'Yotes right now is a lack of scoring, which is bewildering.
Still, they are a point behind Edmonton, two points behind the Rangers and the Habs, and three points behind the Sharks and the Wild.

@ganymede Speaking of which, early in season, but Edmonton at old tricks again, damaging draft picks in earlier years or something. Grumble. (Nah, I'm still hopefully for the season, but want to throw out complaints that are starting to fly again).

People keep saying this, but I don't think they know what the fuck they are talking about. Edmonton's problem is what it has always been: a lack of defense.

Way back when they tried a break out form of defense that sort of looks like special teams in the zone trying to get it up ice for breakaway or odd-man rushes. They need to put that book back on the shelf and bring in some real defense.
-
Wow. So that happened.
My Yotes got their first W against the other team I follow.
On some level I both won and lost last night, but I think it counts as a net win.
-
@lotherio Edmonton had a good run last year, now it's time for another decade of 'rebuilding.'

The Leafs are kicking ass this year. Just saying.
-
John Tavares is where he belongs now.
Welcome home, John.
We've been waiting.

Best goaltending they’ve had all season.

mumbles to herself
The only good thing to come out of this year's season is Gritty, said the Flyers fan.
-
Arise, chicken.

Bummed as I am about the loss, I gotta give props to the social media accounts:

YouTube the Game 7 highlights between the Sharks and Knights. Coming back from a 0-3 trail on home ice? The way the crowd pops when each goal was scored (Sharks came back to win 5-4 in OT) is insane.
Also, the series is gonna go down in the books as a mess referee-wise. Lots of shit calls that it's making news and those officials have been removed from reffing round 2.

Bullshit.
Hockey without bullshit calls is known as not-hockey. It's going to happen. You deal with it. Vegas can bitch about how their player shouldn't have been called for a 5-minute major, but that play took out San Jose's top-line center.
That doesn't mean you should bump the severity of the penalty; far from it. It means that San Jose was without one of its better power-play forwards. And they still rattled off 3 goals during the major penalty.
Unfair? Fuck off. The Leafs lost Kadri for a major and only gave up 1 goal. Don't complain about the call; complain about your team's failure to defend as well as the Leafs.
-
@Ganymede Hey, it's not my complaint. I get that hockey is mostly piss and vinegar and bad calls are a part of it. I don't have a dog in the playoffs right now. Yotes and Flyers aren't present.
I'm referring to This 5 minute major drama in which the Knights are saying handed game 7 to the Sharks
-
I know what you're talking about. I'm Canadian. I am telepathically connected to all hockey games.
I'm saying that the Golden Knights' complaint is bullshit for two reasons: (1) bad calls are a part of hockey; and (2) if you give up more goals than the Leafs' PK teams, you deserve to lose.
-
@Ganymede The Golden Knights were due a "we got fucked" complaint. Two of my best friends are from Buffalo (and by rote Sabres fans) and they're still bitching about that Bret Hull kick goal.

Then maybe they shouldn't have overbid for Max Pacioretty.

Maybe they should have bitch about Buffalo's lack of scoring outside of Satan's line instead. They ran into an Eagle possessed, but should have been able to outscore any team with the Dominator in net.
