I have been cooped up in this house with this for nearly 2 weeks because of snowed in-ness--and now their mid-winter break begins. It is a safari at my house, and I am ready to run away.
I was stuck mostly in my house for two weeks due to snow, so I sympathize.
What drove me crazy was we were supposed to have work done on the house; we'd made an appointment and dismantled the home officesâincluding unplugging and moving the computersâand then due to snow they had to reschedule to a week and a half later. So instead of dismantling things for a couple of days, everything's been moved around furniture-wise for two weeks, and I haven't had my desktop computer that whole time.
No one's fault, but man, that was annoying timing!
-
@Sparks are you getting carpet/flooring taken care of? WORKING ON THE LIST?
-
@Kanye-Qwest it's on the list, but we have to move all the furniture out to do that, and uuuuugh. Only the "we made this the gating thing we must do before getting a dog again" is keeping us going on prep for that.
It is encouraging a massive decluttering though. Gonna purge almost all my physical books that aren't signed or really old (1890's edition of Burton, first editions of the Oz books, etc.), for instance.
-
i love to have books but man, what an anchor they are.
-
@Kanye-Qwest â Truth.
-
@Kanye-Qwest I just got rid of all of my physical books a couple months ago. I was really worried that I would regret it, but I almost exclusively read off of a device. My books were just collecting dust (the dust was becoming a huge issue for my asthma problems) and I've been able to hang cool art in the spaces where I had huge floor to ceiling bookshelves. I think I kept about half a dozen physical books that were sentimental more than anything. It was absolutely freeing and I can breathe so much better in my house.

Medications with a lengthy list of possible side effects.
Doubly so if you end up with roughly 80% of that lengthy list.
Quintuple-y so if those side effects include making the original problem way worse. (For instance, an antidepressant should ideally not cause 'increased depression and potential suicidal ideation'.)
Bonus if surprise snow kept the doctor's office closed so you couldn't call and get permission to stop taking said medication.
-
I am moving on Monday and the removals guys turned up today to pre load the vehicle (it is going to be a long, long drive on Monday).
Now I have:
Half a couch, two seats
A coffee table
A TV
A bedI have no other furniture and a tiny assortment of kitchenware plus cat essentials. Said kittens are now wandering the empty desolation being excited by the change yet also very confused as to why their entire universe is empty and weird.

oh NO. God, the medication roulette can be so scary.

Compared to other things, this is only a minor irk. But if you have a video service (or even just a video player) I want to see how far along it is in its buffering.
Occasionally, given I have crappy Australian internet that decides "fuck you, dial up speeds from the 80s now" without warning, I have to buffer my videos before I watch them. So please, for the love of all that is sacred, show me the buffering.

People that don't get their shit done on time drives me nuts. Second shift sees us come in, and they immediately slow down. Management knows about it and talks about it, but they won't do a same thing about it.
-
Being so upset I go on a cleaning binge.
Being already so upset I am on a cleaning/organizing/purging-old-crap binge that has persisted for over two weeks, and two more major things happening that make me more upset on what I can only imagine is now a geometric progression of up-fucking-set-itude.
Look, universe, my body is not built for this shit, and we only have so much Lysol until Monday, OK?

By 'upset' you clearly mean 'high on coke'.
-
@Tinuviel No, I do not.

Dear English Professor:
I have already stated that Black's Law Dictionary is the gold-standard of legal reference. That is what makes it important. Nobody gives a fuck who the current editors are, and that information only detracts from the information already presented. Please stop telling me to include author credentials that are in no way relevant to the information presented.
-
@Derp Always cite your sources accurately.
-
The citation is correct. He just wants author credentials, which are irrelevant. Like he wants me to talk about the current editor and his work, which has absolutely nothing to do with a dictionary that has been around and living large since 1891. ETA: The editor is respected in his own right, but he has not written anything compelling on the topic I have selected, so. If I talk about him, it just detracts from the fact that I am providing a definition out of Black's.

They aren't if the professor wants them.

I love my four year old. He was a fucking huge surprise, but he has enriched my life and that of everyone in our immediate family (even his sibs say so) in so many ways.

Itâs Blackâs Law Dictionary.
Whenâs the last time someone asked for author identification for the OED? Or the DSM-IV?
You know it, or you donât.
Next thing, the professorâll ask for author credentials for Blackstone.
