Not a peeve at all.
Super proud of my friend. One of his Eagle Scout projects was to clean out or repair all the flag post holes leading to Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery so they could be used again for Memorial Day Not sure how they fell out of repair but it was a big task.
PS Yes I did grow up on a peninsula that had more folks buried in it than living on it.

@jibberthehut In this case, the mom was screaming so much abuse in my face I was seriously ready to call the police since she refused to leave my property and kept trying to push her way through the door and into the house, until...
...be shocked: her husband is a local police officer. She was very pleased to mention how much trouble she could invent to get me in for my timid-as-a-rabbit mother quietly asking the mothers to please stop the scream tag games on the lawn (which they actually aren't supposed to be on anyway) at the asscrack of dawn, and kept screaming threats and to expect the police at my door with handcuffs by the time she got down the street to her house -- yelling so loudly she woke the rest of the neighbors. (Cross street? Mostly young families. My street and the rest of them? All retirees who are not up at that hour, and are very unsettled by such antics. They're used to this neighborhood being nice and quiet, not a Jerry Springer set.)

@misadventure Mowing lawns, aerating lawns, vandalism, wildlife.
That's a pretty good eagle project! Go him!

Goddammit, friend_07, stop trying to "fix" my issue with advice that doesn't work unless I am
- A spoiled goddamn toddler who is willing to make everything about me, and
- In possession of a body that isn't broken as fuck.
But thanks for reminding me, on what was starting out to be a cool, chill morning, why I continue to struggle with depression. Good job. Had a great weekend, but that shit's over now.

"Just stop worrying about it."
......That's not how anxiety works, fucker. Believe me, I would if I could.
If you need anything, let me know.

@aria "These things don't count as work, they're fun! And you can totally put some of them aside to do this other thing that you say you want to do that will eventually replace the work you do for a living!"
Okay, everything you just listed ALL COUNTS AS WORK.

@darinelle squuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuiiiiiints
I have a feeling this either involves some dumbfuck that thinks you can get paid to code MUs in such a way that it is actually financially sustainable (tip: you can make beer money and that's about it) or someone who really should probably get slapped with the "Well, Actually...." song.

Double post, but here's a present!

I feel like, on the day after a holiday, offices should send out an automated email first thing in the morning.
"Everyone else was out, too. You didn't miss anything. Slow your roll, Brenda."

There is the other side of this, a few years ago I was walking home from work and one of my neighbours, a nice old man who was a retired teacher and local councilor, stepped out and cautioned me that he thought 'gang people' were 'doing drug things' in my garden.
I lived on a one way street while my vehicle access was through the back to another road, and it was possible to cut through my garden/car parking to save about a five minute walk all the way around. I proceeded up my driveway to find...
About six teenagers in my parking space having quiet conversation, I politely reminded them it was private property and that I lived here then they apologised before going somewhere else without confrontation or argument. The terrible delinquent youth!

My sister.
My sister who went off to her first year of college this past year not to the college that would have given her a full scholarship for lacrosse, but to USC (because the other one was an all-girls college and ugh, she wanted to be around BOYS). Even though the other one was also being attended by her best friend and again, let me note: FULL. SCHOLARSHIP.
My sister who kept ending up failing classes because (per my mom) she was 'sick,' but when I had to add the venmo app to pay for something once and it auto-populated my contacts and showed their public notes, all of hers were colloquialisms for alcohol and weed.
My sister who went to Miami just a couple weeks before finals for a music festival, then barely passed her finals after last summer being a sneering little snot at me about how she'd 'finally' be better at me at something and finish college first with a 4.0 and valedictorian because HS was SO EASY (she did have a 4.0 GPA in HS despite her behavior, I'll give her that, but in SC I'm not sure how difficult that is and we know the step between curriculums is much greater).
My sister and I are hugely different. I mean, there's an age gap of 13 years. Practically a generational gap. I helped raised her. My mother fell into a post-partum depression with her so bad that my father and I feared she'd attempt suicide. She'd lock herself in her bedroom for days. And my father was suck a workaholic, running the household fell to me. Taking care of my sister fell to me. I was homeschooled, so it's not like I 'had anywhere to be' (their idea of homeschool was to shove whatever books they'd bought that year at me and give me tests when they remembered).
Maybe my anger about my sister is me blaming myself. Like oh, if I hadn't fucked up.... but I dunno. Maybe she resents me having been the one to tend to her so much when she was so little, but I dunno if she'd remember, it was only for her first 2, 3 years.
Anyway, this does fold into a sort of win.
I found out on her twitter that ON FATHER'S DAY (oh yes, this is a real winner). Oh. Fucking. Father's Day. my mother bought my dad a Capital's hat (since they won the Stanley Cup) a hat. This is my father's singlemost favorite sports team and he's been following them since they formed. My sister.... likes them when they're winning (like your classic fairweather fan, y'know?) and I guess my sister began begging and whining and wheedling my dad for the hat, forgetting which day it was and because she's the baby of the family and he always gives in to her because she's his princess: he gave her the hat.
On Father's Day.
I had been planning to buy him something for the Caps anyway, but I fell really sick after payday & over the weekend. I was gonna get him a mug or something for his desk, but I'm replacing that hat (+ a sticker for his car) instead.

Spotify. Fuck you, Spotify. If I wanted to hear offensive music I would queue it up.
If you throw Steel Panther on my fucking metal playlist one more time I'm going to cancel my premium account.
P.S. - I understand you are contractually obligated to make Five Finger Death Punch every other song as well, but please. It's hard to downvote them all in advance.

Gasp, fite me.
-
@arkandel Do you want me to fight you, or do you want me to cover the fights of other people and just change a few lyrics to be self-referential?
-
Five Finger Death Punch vs Nickelback
Who would win?
-
@auspice Death Punch would do a cover of Nickelback's songs, changing some of the lyrics to insert their band's name.
Nickelback would win because the new, shittier version would cause a new appreciation for how much worse Nickelback could have been.

No one, because any consideration of them causes incurable wypipo disease.
