I am so sick of the bullshit health insurance-provider-prescriptions dance.
My behavioral health provider has called out sick the last 3 times I had an appointment. I've been trying to get her to put me on something not Adderall. The Adderall ain't working, y'all.
Her poor secretary/handler/wth she is, has been doing her best to help me. She's at least kept me in Adderall, But when she has to send messages to the provider multiple times to get a script sent, it's a PITA.
Because of provider fuck up, I am without Adderall (They were supposed to call it in Thursday evening. Badass secretary was going to be out on Friday, so she couldn't follow up. They didn't put the script in until this morning. So my system is all out of whack, now (For me, a sudden med change will generally fuck with my sugars. No bueno. I crashed hard enough today that I can't shake the after feeling off)

Businesses or similar who've got the notion that their logo will do in place of a written name. I cannot Google 'unparsable symbol, a steeply rising curve, slanted and with a couple of little twiddly-doopers on top' and have your organization come up. It's also really hard to pronounce. Further, if I'm looking for, for example 'The Flying J' and see said symbol, there are pretty good odds I'm gonna miss the turn into your place before I realize that's what it's supposed to mean. And that's an easy one, since it actually follows old-timey cattle brand rules.

My neighbors are kvetching about our public school bussing.
The busses regularly come and deliver the kids 5 to 30 minutes late. The district is so short on bus drivers that school board members and teachers have been doing it. I feel bad for the kids.
I don’t feel bad for the parents. At all. They complain about the real property taxes, most of which fund our schools, but then bitch about short staffing. As if they aren’t completely linked.
JFC, people.
-
@Ganymede The venn diagram of people who bitch about both things and who do not understand how public school funding works is pretty much just a circle.
-
@Ganymede Here in my city, middle school and high school at least, they struck a deal with city buses. Which sounds great, but it makes it hard for the non-student commuters sometimes. It's not a perfect solution either.

My PCP refuses to listen to me. I'm literally getting worse by the week but she simply cannot believe my health issues are eating me alive. Every week I get worse.
I have 4 days a month for appointments or disability related problems and have had that for years.. and it's not working anymore.
She's a wonderful PCP , but this seems like her one blind spot.
That is my peeve.
-
@LittleLizard I have been there. I went to the office manager, told her what was being said/done, and refused to see her again. Never did. She was gone a few months later.
I suppose going to the office manager or someone to talk about her blind spot isn't an option?
-
@Macha Sadly no, but one of my specialists is referring me to another one that specializes in my issue. Now it's just a waiting game.

My dad just died. Cascade of complications after what's usually a pretty low key procedure for his COPD. I'm devastated for my (step) mom, but also relieved as this has been a quarter century of decline since his diagnosis. You never want to hear a parent wailing in pain. And they lost the dog a couple months ago so she hasn't even got him for solace. And it's both hers and my birthdays next week.

I’m sorry for your loss.
-
@hedgehog I'm sorry, hedgehog. May his memory be a blessing.
-
@hedgehog I can't imagine 25 years of watching that. I am so sorry for your loss. I hope both you and your stepmom can maybe remember some good previous birthday shenanigans with your dad.
I know how hard it is, and I am terrible at words. My heart breaks for you.

Back the end of July/beginning of August, the complex was refurbishing the apartment above ours, and caused a water leak in the kitchen, which came down into our kitchen ceiling. Water in the light fixture, you could see the lines darkening etc.
They replaced the light fixture with a new one. The new one has had water leak into it. The ceiling in one section of the kitchen was clearly more damaged than the rest, and has started to sag, etc. I also suspected mold, when about late August I started getting symptoms I'd had when a previous apartment had black mold. (Migraines getting worse, more intense allergy symptoms, etc)
The apt management had CLOSED the ticket about the damage in our ceiling, and did nothing. So, after 3 months, I called Code Enforcement - as had a friend in the next building over, for the SAME ISSUE - Water damage in the kitchen ceiling, and they weren't fixing it, and other issues that he had and we do not.
Code enforcement let it slip they had a LOT of calls for this complex as of late. I am not hating on immigrants, here, I want that to be clearly stated. But the guys they send around to replace flooring, and do the refurbishment - they speak pretty much no English, and my Spanish is not good enough to keep up. I also know no Portuguese, and a couple of them speak that. But they do not have the knowledge to do this work, do it correctly and in a decent time frame. The vinyl flooring they installed in the hallways, is not flat and even. It has little rises and falls, like waves on water. They all seem to be nice, pleasant guys. But they're clearly super cheap labor, and that's why they're here.
So after Code came, they sent a couple of the crew leads to look at the ceiling. And after I explained the sagging happening over the stove, where there is heat and steam, etc, was concerning, and that I suspected mold - they said they would cut out that part of the ceiling, check the beams for mold, and replace it. Great. That was all I could have asked for.
Then they turned around and said Code only said they had to paint, since the leak was 'long ago fixed'. (then why has there been water in our NEW light fixture? they don't seem to care that there was/may still be leaking along the electrical. like.. wtf?) I called Code, the guy laughed, told me they have until Monday to fix the issue, and he'll be here on Monday.
They sent 3 guys to put primer over the water damage. this is a job I could have done in 10 minutes, with an extendable roller and paint pan. Took them like an hour plus, all told. Told me they'd be back Monday to paint it. Well, while looking over their work.. we found mold growing through the ceiling, near where they had been painting over the stove. So, we took pictures. I sent an email, and BCC'd code guy, showing we've found mold growing through where I said we would, and repeating my request to cut out and replace the drywall after checking/treating the beams. We'll see how it goes.

My PCP is a jackass. I had to go to the ER because HALF my tongue was swollen. I knew why it was swollen. (I had been a dumbass and eaten a bunch of lemonheads, but only on one side, because I had bitten the other side of my tongue. Yeah yeah, I know) And my tongue was irritated when I went to sleep. ER told me to not take this one med I take the next day while I follow up with my PCP, because it can cause this. Only when THAT happens, it's the whole tongue, and the lips, and the mouth area. Not just half the tongue, which went down on all it's own.
I followed up with my PCP's office the next morning...and didn't hear back for over a week, by which time I'd started taking the med again. No issues. So he was like "Well, if you have any..."
Next, I asked to go back on a med I'd been on previously for some pain issues, and he's giving me something else altogether.. that didn't work. I called on Tuesday... still haven't heard, after following up twice. Looks like I call again Monday.

My adderall is backordered, and has been for a while. So I have been trying to function without even the small amount it helps. I called the doc last week about the suggestions the pharmacy gave me on stuff not on backorder. Still nothing.
Still fighting with my PCP . Asked one of my doctors with another health org, for a referral to a PCP in their org. I have had more than enough of this BS.

Dear employer,
No i can not just 'fudge' the timing of my insulin shots. Yes, I need 2 hours between breaks/lunch, etc due to needing the insulin shots timed apart. You knew I was diabetic before making this schedule. WTF.
-
So some of you are professional types. For medical accommodations is 82 hours long enough before sending a follow-up email?
-
@Macha I'd have said 72 hours is more than long enough. You can be a polite, professional squeaky wheel. They'll be happy to ignore you just as long as they can, but you're well within your rights to demand that they get on the stick.
-
@Devrex Yes, clearly. Today in our Friday meeting it was emphasized how they could not make exceptions every day for everyone.
...and then I sugar crashed HARD this afternoon before I got to my break, stuck on a call. So hard that I had spots in my vision, hands shaking, breaking out in a sweat. So I put into the teams chat I was going to break late, and having a sugar crash, be back asap.
DIRECTLY at the 15 minute mark, my manager messaged me to get back on the phones. Meanwhile, I was still struggling to see. Yep. So come Monday (because my manager was GONE in 5 minutes of messaging me), there will be a follow up email. Because now I'm feeling sick and weak, whee.

Well then thankfully they only have to make the reasonable accommodations for those affected by disability every day. As required by law.
