When men brush off your frustration at getting proper medical care for ADHD, etc, as a woman.
"Pssht, that shit is over diagnosed."
Do they not know how hard it is for a woman to get taken seriously by a doctor?
-
@macha No, they don't. Why would they? They never see it.

Why would you see a doctor? ADHD and endometriosis aren't real problems anyway.
Don't you have laundry to be doing? -
@tinuviel I know it's a joke.
But I'm just so angry still.
telling me that the reason I can't get meds for ADHD is that it's over prescribed and doctors are locking it down.
Bullshit. It's because I've got a vag, and clearly am just too hysterical to be trusted with my OWN FUCKING MEDICAL CARE.
-snarl- ...I need to get ready to go see the dr now.

I mean, this one is somewhat true. Somewhat. It's just not being applied evenly, only usually when it comes to anyone that isn't white and cis-male.

I wonder if that's why I don't bother going to the doctor.

@macha I got lucky. REALLY lucky. The medical group that did my testing is all-female, and all of them have had at least one personal experience with not being taken seriously for medical concerns, be they mental or physical. My diagnosis meeting is the 18th and I'm nervous to find out exactly what they'll have found. Also relieved, because I will finally know.
But, I also still think that ADD/ADHD needs to be more of a spectrum than a firm yes/no. Simply because there are so many other disorders that tie into it and there's no One Way to have ADD/ADHD. So yeah, its likely being 'overdiagnosed' because a LOT of people are going to suffer from one or more of the disorders/neurodivergency that tie into ADD/ADHD. They don't have anything else to call it, so its labeled ADD/ADHD.

Well, while I am less than enthused that she just doubled the does of Wellbutrin that never did much of anything for me, she has agreed to start the testing so if the upped dose doesn't work, I can try the stimulant route.
-
My vaguely related peeve is, I will never, ever stop thinking Wellbutrin is the generic form of Coumadin even though I should know better by now.

So there is a building here where I work. Which is mostly poor and elderly residents. It's got about 15 floors, two tiny elevators. They don't enforce social distancing in the elevators.
One time when I delivered to this place, I got hit with a piece of fried chicken because two people were arguing and one of the participants followed me onto the elevator. I wasn't really upset, it was low on my leg and it was kind of funny.
Not funny was the time two men followed me onto the elevator, and one of them started telling me how fine I was. How much he liked my outfit (my uniform), and then started rubbing my arm, my side, my hip. And wouldn't stop when I stepped away from him, and then kept rubbing my arm when I moved the pizza bag to block access to my hip and side.
When it happened I reported it to my store manager (SM) and said I wouldn't deliver there anymore and if I had to then the customer would have to come down to meet me in the lobby. SM has supported me and backed me on this 100%. There was one time that a run for that place came up and I refused to go. And one of the AMs snarkily told SM "Oh she said she couldn't go there for some reason or another IDK that's why that run is so late".
To which SM said, "Yes she's right there was an incident, it's fine."
Today, however, the girlfriend of the above mentioned AM is running shift. An order for that place comes up, I try to explain to her I can't take it. She makes me. Tells me to call the customer and have them come down.
The customer agrees to. I get there. Give them their food. Accidentally drop something as I'm giving them the boxes. The security guard start jumping my ass, telling me I need to go up, the lady starts complaining that she didn't want to come down, etc.
I try to explain, they won't let me get a word in. So I just leave. One of the guards follows me out and takes a picture of my car as I'm leaving.
They call the store. Manager on duty tells me, "I understand where you're coming from but it doesn't matter. I'll get in trouble because you didn't go up. And I didn't know that she tipped. She's elderly. How old was she? You should have gone up."
I tell her it doesn't matter that the lady tipped. No amount of tip is worth my safety and get told, "You can't keep doing that."
"Yeah, actually I can." I responded because I'm not putting myself at risk for a 10% tip. $5 isn't worth my life or the chance of being assaulted again.
"Don't get smart with me. You don't deal with customer complaints. I do." Was the response.
I clocked out and left. And tbh I don't know if I still have a job or not, but I'm sitting in my car shaking. Pissed.

I'm not saying you should put yourself through the stress of any legal proceedings or anything like that, but if you did decide to mount a legal defense, it sounds like you have a case; especially if any of this is documented.
But regardless of my revenge fantasies against your manager, whom I would like to see terrible things happen to, I'm so sorry you had to go through all of that. I hope it gets resolved quickly and in a way that teaches your manager to respect employees.

I went above SM to the regional person for our small franchise. Which, ironically, I told the Manager on Duty today I was already doing and got told, "He doesn't care about you" by her.
He told me he would handle it, but God only knows what that means.
