To paraphrase Jim Broadbent... First Lemmy, now Bowie. sigh We've reached an age where life stops giving us things and starts taking them away.

Shit. This Bowie one is actually impacting me. When I was a kid, I once took a picture of Bowie to a hairstylist because I wanted to have Bowie's haircut. I loved his music. I haven't picked up Blackstar yet, but I wonder if it will be like Johnny Cash: American IV, because it was clearly obvious Cash knew that would going to be his final album when he made it.

Spotify's featuring a David Bowie playlist, if anyone wants to jam.

This was well written managing amusing but bittersweet. Although the last bit ;_; http://newsthump.com/2016/01/11/david-bowie-returns-home/ "Jodrell Bank have confirmed ground control will continue to call for him into the silent, eternal void, hoping for a signal."

Losing Lemmy was really rough, it was a band that me and my brother bonded over. But it's just made worse now that Bowie has left the world. It's all the more reason I think that I need to buy Blackstar.

Right? I just remembered I have a $25 iTunes gift card! He looked damned good even while he was sick. I saw the lazurus video and tears started welling up.

Fuuuuuuuuuck. I knew there would be a third, but dammit this one is a gut-punch.

Sonovabitch. I'm going to miss that man. Such a great actor.

I spent so much of middle school and high school absolutely in love with that man. Galaxy Quest came out when I was about twelve and my mom was like, oh you liked him?? TIME FOR SENSE & SENSIBILITY. Which is when I fell in love. My mom started renting a bunch of his movies just for us to watch together. He was a fantastic Snape, and he played a lot of assholes over the years, but in my heart he'll always be the quiet, honorable Colonel Brandon.

I met him as Hans Gruber, laughed with him as Metatron, and found him the most compelling bit of all the Harry Potter movies.

He was the only memorable part of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

@Ganymede He was the only BRITISH part of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

Long before the Harry Potter movies came out, or casting announced, my husband and I were reading the books, and one time he said to me, "You know who they should cast as Snape? Alan Rickman."

By Grabthar's hammer, by the suns of Warvan, you shall be avenged... but I don't know who we are going after for this.

Seriously though, fuck cancer. Fuck cancer right in the neck (Celine Dion's husband too.) Also, speaking of Robin Hood (The Disney fox one) Brian Bedford... see previous comment.
