I'm a terrible person who shouldn't have dogs.
When I call the girls in from the yard they get a liver treat each (so they come in when called
). That's all great, but today there were no more treats in there! Ohnoes.So I reached into their regular dry food container, took a few nuggets of their regular dry food, and excitedly put them in their regular dry food dish, on top of the regular dry food already in there.
The young one went for it anyway because she's got like 100 grams worth of brains at the best of times. The oldest just gave me this look.

Today I taunted my dog about his morning out and treat routine, because he decided to spend all night out in the other room with my guest, instead of coming to snuggle with me at bedtime. Of course, she was awake all night, working, so he could get them sweet 4am belly rubs. So.. I get it.
Still gonna tell him he's cheating on his momma.

You're not supposed to give a treat every time they do a trick for just this reason. Sometimes you get the treat and sometimes you don't. You don't know when it will be, so might as well do it every time, in case you miss one of those times.

Well, after the loss of Rock back in April I've been pretty devastated and I came super close to resigning myself to not finding the right dog until after summer or even next year. And then I got a phone call.
Meet Grisha. Next week I'll be doing an 11 hour drive each way to pick her up and bring her to her new home, if all goes according to plan. I am so in love.

Our three oldest foster babies had to go back to the shelter last night, including the baby I had fallen head over heels with- Hermes.
I cried, a lot. Husband is soothing his sads by claiming the four youngest babies (who we will have for about two more weeks) as his work buddies and I'm cuddling with one of my babies, Lyra. This is the calmest she has been since we started fostering.

I held her like this for a half hour.
Then she woke up so I put her down assuming she wanted to play with her siblings who were going spastic near by.
