Ngl, probably the cutest sleepy kitten pic so far.

staaaahhhhp.
(No, don't stop.)
-
Now if they could just get over their respiratory infection....
(They are on their third round of antibiotics - a different kind this time.)
It is a good thing they are forgiving for the amount of medicine I stuff in their mouths and ointment I wipe on their eyes.

Today in kittens are cute AF.
My babies at home.
***=SFW content***click to showBabies I am foster sitting. (There are 13 total, 4 fluffy gray/white, 8 black/white, and 1 feral mama who is not happy for her regular human to be gone and wants to kill me. I'm very happy I was able to crate her today cuz... yeah, I like my blood inside my body.)

This is the new foster baby. I say baby because legit, just one.
See, this family brought her in and surrendered her yesterday.
Then they called back a few hours later sobbing about how they had made a terrible decision and could they PLEASE have her back, swear promise- everything under the sun. The shelter believes them. Super appreciative family shows up and takes her home in a shower of love.
Today a man shows up with her and surrenders her again. Problem is that the foster family she WAS going to go with had just taken in another spur of the moment surrender of five kittens.
So the shelter didn't HAVE a place for her. So as they talked about where they could possibly put her (the best option being a little pop up pen in someone's room), I opened my mouth and volunteered our home and bathroom because we'd moved the bigger kittens to our guest room. (Note, SOs are allowed to get peeved at decisions like this where they aren't included in the decision process...)
So now she is with us. And I want to slap some people silly because she is SO scared and SO sad.
Don't take an animal into your home unless you are ready for the lifetime commitment. They do feel.

Some of my critters still aren't over feeling endangered and it bugs me sometimes.
Ruby, my oldest, was a stray when we found her in the streets... in 2007. Dog, you don't need to flinch when I reach out to pet you. You've had 14 years to figure out I'll not actually smack you instead, given that I still haven't.
Roo, my youngest cat, has been around for three years. He was a tiny kittenball when he was adopted. He still freaks out and bolts into a closet if I get up from my chair, walk towards him on the way to somewhere else or in general if I am active while not immobilized (sitting or laying down). Wtf. Get over it!
Bemusedly the other dog and cat in the household couldn't care less. They will both lay across my path on the stairs, making me trip over them, with no shits given.
-
It is crazy how different their personalities are! My Kiva is a total "whats up, oh, forgot I don't care" type while my Lyra is "OMG A SOUND I MUST HIDE WHAT IF IT GETS ME".
-
Neither of my cats are the 'OMG RUN AWAY FLEE' types if I move... but Diva you can tell was abused previously. If My hand moves too quickly or I reach for her suddenly, she will flinch away. She's 16 years old and has been with me for some time but still hasn't ever really broken out of that instinctive 'AH!' moment when she sees sudden, unexpected movement.
George has zero fucks to give. He will steal my chair and not move until I'm almost sitting on him. NO. FUCKS. Then he glares at ME as if I've done him wrong. Then jumps up and drapes himself across my chest so I can't see the tv over his bulk. His revenge is as subtle as a brick and just as effective.
-
@too-old-for-this The important question is will George slip under your butt as you are sitting into your chair?
-
@misadventure He's like... 15 pounds of hefty boi. He doesn't 'slip' anywhere. XD

I felt bad leaving our singleton foster (seen above and named Calypso for sure) even with the person who is going to foster sit our other four... so we brought her with us for my sister's wedding!
She is running around our hotel room like a madman because it is ALL SO COOL. Then she'll abruptly run back to me for a small pet before she is OFF AGAIN.
No pictures, cuz she hasn't settled long enough for me to take one.

My kitten Stentor has been... Growing, he is over eight months old now and has turned from this:
To this:
But he is still a cuddle monster:
Also he LOVES people, he spent a few hours today just playing with my eighteen month old niece beautifully and is happy to purr himself to sleep in a lap or in bed with me.

Staaaaaahp omg so cute
-
@packrat How did the cat get more adorable when it got bigger?
-
@packrat so beautiful, so cute!

We brought baby Calypso to my sister's wedding with us and this is her happily sitting with my brother and his service dog Levi. This is the first time since his accident (17 years ago) he has gotten to hold or pet a cat since most won't sit this serenely.
