@JinShei Actually the story is kind of brilliant. They used a military chopper to drop bags of aggregate in the collapsed dam section to shore it up, while fire fighters pumped water out of the reservoir to reduce the pressure. Watched a news story on it and amazing how smartly it was handled. None of which, I'm sure, had to do with Boris.
I know - it was a joke

If you're bored, go on Google and search for MOT Check UK, open it up and search the MOT status of this car RJ04ZYX. Have a look at why it failed in 2015; it’s the best advisory you’ll ever see! Trust me, you won't be disappointed.
-
@JinShei I don't think people outside the UK can view the MOT check site. I can't view it, at the very least.

I guess I'm not really seeing why it's hilarious?
Feels nitpicky, but that's sort of the job of testing like that isn't it? -
With NPR heavily used, and police able to issue fines for number plates being dirty and unreadable, yes, this is indeed a genuine (and serious) reason to fail a car its MOT. The car wouldn't have been charged for its re-test, but the tester would have had to contact the owner and get permission to replace the bulb (as it's an expense), before issuing the pass certificate.
We English, we're just so crazy like that!

It is missing the funny.
It is the second bit...

Yeah, that wasn't there when I looked.
-
@Auspice Definitely was but it would be in a folded up section under the advisory bit.
-
@JinShei I think someone's picked up on it and taken it off. Spoilsports.

...yes.

...but it should honestly be in comic sans for maximum impact.

I'm still crying over here.
-
@Auspice I physically flinched when I saw it, and made a horrified shocked noise... out loud.
And it still post-surgery hurts to talk, so like, unexpected blurt of horror noise will likely be something I will pay for for hours to come, but that thing earned it.

I would have also accepted "Ariel". Helvetica is overused, but even kerned terribly it's still a gorgeous typeface.

I had to see it. Now you have to see it.

So wait, wait. Hold the fuck on.
Those maps that said "Here there be dragons" were accurate?
