Having risen in influence and power, the city of Matora is readily focused on its own affairs. The Great Houses of the city, with trade empires stretching to the corners of the world, have a greater interest in valor and vengeance. Disputes and conflict between the families is a primary focus while neighboring city-states are on the rise. The wealth of the city has drawn the eyes of foreign interests wanting their own share.
While the families utilize small personal armies to conduct their wars of personal vindication with each other, they have relatively small armies to defend their cities. Here the companies of mercenary warriors known as the Ventura have played a vital role. Following years of conquest in foreign lands, mercenaries returning form companies for hire, waging the wars between cities that the families cannot. The families can, however, supply the coin to fuel this constant struggle for power in the city-states while growing their personal empires.

Valorous Dominion is an online role-playing experience in an alternative setting based roughly on the northern Italian city-states in the proto-renaissance period; roughly the mid 14th Century. We are a mix of the King Arthur Pendragon RPG for characters and our own system for house management and growth.

This is looking really, really cool. I love the complexity of the international politics and the atmosphere.
I found a really cool page on the wiki that talked about laws and history and all of that, but then I lost it and couldn't find it again. A front page list of all the important world intro pages might be helpful!

I will be playing Tizania <something>, who is married to Amanda <something>, two house spares who agreed to marry to smooth over the feuds between their houses, causing a tenuous peace between the two! ...so long as Tizania and Amanda can keep from killing each other! 
I'd be interested in having siblings and such. Original house is currently undecided.
I dunno who GiovanniAcuto is on here, if they are on here. But they were super helpful answering my questions and stuff.

@lithium That was a fail on my part about not liking me. I vote for the kick ass story part 100 percent.
So, I have made a character and claimed a house to worldbuild! Chargen was confusing at places but players and staff are helpful and friendly. The alt-history world is interesting and I look forward playing with the other people who've shown interest in my house.
I'm interested, but I'd really like to see some flavor in terms of the Houses before picking one.
@cupcake How much flavor? They're letting us design our own houses, but what sort of detail would you be looking for?
I play Garden. I totally need a maid / lady's spy. So if you don't wanna play a noble, but want to do more than 'just commoner,' I need someone willing to stack skills in Intrigue and Manipulation... maybe Dagger for stabbity if things go awry!
@auspice FYI, they only need manip OR intrigue. I had taken both and they had me redistribute the points. Manipulation is for those of the city-state cultures, intrigue is for everyone else.

...mebbe I should put in a req to adjust my skills. I took both and wasn't told to adjust. Man. I took both as secondaries, too! I'll get hella points to work with!
