I've made a character! System is a little bananas, but not hard with someone explaining it. I'm really digging traits (which, for those that don't know, are a mass of 'stats' that help define your personality traits).
I'm here as Amanda, sister to the HoH of Capello. I've already picked up a wife and a little sister! Anyone who'd like a connection, feel free to page.

I am trying to figure out how to be a noble from one of the houses that are not local. A foreign noble, will have to hope to catch the staff when we all have some time to discuss things as the Houses as listed are all local.
-
Oh, I'm Conte Nicolo d'Albrici. House Albrici are bankers. (Not everyone has to be, its just the family business).
I also made his mother, the Dowager Contessa Caterina and put her on the roster for someone to pick up. (She's not approved yet, but!)
-
This sounds like a lot of fun. Is there any particular character concepts/roles that the game needs more of?
-
The right to BARE arms made me laugh.
Not AT anyone. It just makes me laugh no matter how often I see the typo. My imagination draws up the imagery.
-
I'll get that fixed, thanks.
-
I guess maybe I'm just lazy, but I'm of little brain for making up Houses whole-cloth, and would like to see established noble Houses with different themes and focus. Maybe one is merchants. Maybe another are experts in horsemanship. Maybe those guys over there have a thing for sailing. And so on, and so forth.
-
@cupcake I believe the Houses are broken up into that sort of specialization. Each house has their own commodity type. There are those who specialize in agriculture, livestock, luxury goods and so on.
-
@jealousy I've looked at three Houses, but only one clearly indicated what they do - banking, on the House page. Is there someplace I should look to see this info that I'm not intuiting?
-
@cupcake Oh yes, it was listed in chargen.

Yeah that's me, I plan on buffing up the house page to better describe that which is the Albrici financial empire.
EDIT TO ADD:
I note, exactly what, say, "Livestock" means is up to the HoH to develop. Of the families, only four have HoH's yet. Like, Capello might be master horsemen, or have a ton of cows. I think Sebastino have a ton of cows.Luxury is sort a miscellaneous thing, and me and Gaspari are the two houses that deal in luxury. We were both interested in trading on exotic imports and banking, so we talked it out and he decided to go the trade route and Albrici went banking. So some of this is developing in-game live as people log on and chat things out.
And I note just because (for example) Albrici is primarily bankers, doesn't mean we don't welcome people in the house who don't do that. We have one religious zealot cousin and a brother who has gone another way from the family business, for example.
-
I'm sorry, that's my fault for not making the focus of houses readily visible on the wiki ('+houses' in game lists shows the Heads and Commodity for folks looking to join houses, they can pick one interesting and know who to contact without hitting up the wiki). We only defined loosely the basic commodity they focus on. Heads can further focus or emphasize what that is for them, as our commodities are very broad stroke. Such as Nicolo of Albrici gains luxury items (hopefully) as a resource to build/trade/etc. with, but Nicolo specified this as banking. Gaspari could (I don't think Cosimo has specified yet) focus on exotic trade imports or some other area of luxury. We didn't want to set coats of arms and mottos for the houses, folks seemed to enjoy having that control on Realms. We just have loose history, basic inclination of politics/religion and the commodity set for the houses.

@lotherio So for a foreign noble savage type of concept, it'd have to be someone married in at his point I take it, since you have to pick a house?
-
Hi!
I play Cosimo. House Gaspari is focusing on importing exotic trade goods and stuffs. I need to put that on the house wiki page. That being said, if anyone wants to be be a part of the house, there's still room for 2 siblings and a ton of cousins. I'm totally open to concepts and am fine with people playing against-type.
Could also use non-nobles too!
Anyway @Lithium you could be someone who married in. Or you could be someone who took into a mercenary company.

You don't have to be in a house, sorry if that seemed like a requirement. We have one married in from another land and someone with a merc company. We do have a commoner in the works too. But another noble could certainly be in town without marriage. From seeking alliances with Matoran houses, to asylum from troubles back home and anything in between.

I am that person that @Lotherio mentioned that married in. To Gaspari, even! And yes, we focus on importing exotic trade goods. And from my character's marriage in, there's a secondary trade of production goods (weapons, ships, all that good stuff).
Additionally, my character is now looking for a SEAMSTRESS to be an employee of the house. We wanna be fancy af. Well, she does. Her husband and stepbrother might not care.
So that's a SPYMAID (not just a lady's maid, but a spymaid. It's much cooler) and a seamstress. We'd also bring in guards, mercenaries. This is in addition to the two siblings and cousins mentioned above.
-
So I updated the Gaspari house page with some openings in the house in case someone's looking for hooks or anything:
http://valorous.wikidot.com/house:gaspari
I'm also more than happy to have cousins who married out as well, or another sibling who did. So hit me up if you are looking for a hook there.
-
If anyone wants to be from South Avicorse, but wants hooks... I'd love to have some siblings or cousins that came with Garden to Matora.
-
I'm in character generation on this game, making my bit Lucrezia who's going to be the Head of House of House Ganza. Other players on the game have been very friendly, staff is very fast to respond and I love the setting and theme.

Do you need any turtles?
I have a hankering for re-making the Turtle, with 27% more bitterness.
