Valorous Dominion

I have never played a character in a family like that ever and don't know if I could do it. (That is a joke for the people who know better.)
I've been poking a few places, but if I come up with something I think will work there, I'll let you know!
-
I keep considering playing here, but I then wonder if I'll have time. I barely feel as though I'm keeping up with just arx.
-
Heads up on wondering if there is time to play. VD is less involved than Arx system wise. What we have is aimed at Heads of Houses and to help generate RP for storytelling purposes. Less of a commitment would be required.
-
I was thinking of dipping my toes somewhere. Is there anything out there with an Arkandel-shaped hole in it?
(cue the memes)

@Arkandel The Arbores could use more people. They're basically a family of Da Vincis.

Would be good to get Arbore going more inline with some of the current active Houses too.

I posted earlier on the thread, but! Posting this again...
I'm expanding the seamstress idea:
Garden is going to be starting a whole fashionhouse under the Gaspari name. This means designers, sourcers, etc. This means I'm looking for a PC (or PCs!) to run this place. Noble or non- could apply. Specifically I'm looking for someone from Avicorse or the Eastern Empire. Dream goal would be a noble PC to run it for the Gasparis and then a PC or two to help with the designs, creation, etc. for the populace.
Anyway! If this interests you, feel free to PM me here or page/mail me as Garden on the game.
I will say now, this has not just RP hook potential for an Eastern Empire noble PC, but really good plot hook potential. If you want a way to jump right into plot, I've got some plans brewing based around this and I'd love to put the idea wholesale into someone's hands before I make a roster PC.

Hey.
I'm, like, standing right here, man.
I thought you were too busy cooking meals for all your girlfriends.
-
Woman, that was in real life, Ms. InstantPot.
Sue me for liking to sauté, bake, and roast things.
-
@lotherio Oh, I'm sure it's less involved, code-wise. But I still like to make sure I have the time to dedicate to developing a character and connecting in a meaningful way with others. It's not about the game, just about my RL.
-
@lotherio One of my struggles is that things are pretty insular; at the recent party it felt like people were sticking by the folks they already RP'd with and I arrived late and felt completely at a loss. It's probably also in some part my own anxiety. But we've got at least two social events in the planning works which may help. Willing to take suggestions if you have advice, though?
-
@cupcake Yeah, I didn't last long at the recent party, mostly because of the lack of places and WOW I've apparently gotten really dependent on places and tabletalk. I was definitely being insular because it was just hard to keep track, and I was only there for a bit. Fortunately staff said they'll start getting places set up for future use!
-
I made a character and while it can sometimes be slow to get a scene (its not a huge game), the rp I've had has been enjoyable. I went with a mercenary because I honestly don't know if I have the time to be seriously invested. It's soon summer here, too, and if its a nice one I'll be outside enjoying it. Last one absolutely sucked.

That party was rather large. We've talked about adding places but that wouldn't stop the folks RP'ing with folks they already RP with.
If you feel anxious, I'd be glad to help meet others and do smaller groups for people to start getting out of their houses. Its in this sort of early stage where houses seem to be sort of figuring themselves out, but really the political minded should be considering relation to the other houses. We were hoping monthly pairings for Valor would help some folks meet others, but we have a few that are having a hard time connecting with their partners.
This is completely in the air, but as staff, I'll run bigger things like today's Siege of Viergues every few weeks at most. But maybe we can add smaller type events to get folks to mingle outside of their families and circles? Like host small feasts/hunting/something where houses only send one Rep to RP with houses and others they haven't RP'ed with. A mingler or so something to get people to meet others?
I'm open to suggestions to help push the politics to start networking too; that said I'd be glad to help either as staff or in my pc alt guise if the would help somehow too?
-
@Lotherio - I was actually going to ask you - it seems the grid doesn't yet have a good social spot for easy mingling and chatting, what would in modern reality be pubs/cafes/etc. I was thinking a tavern would be nice, and I would love to build it and desc it. I know taverns existed already in Rome and Byzantine. I don't know if it would be feasible for Lucrezia or the Ganza's house to own it, but I just want to see it on the grid, and having an NPC own it might also help make it a neutral space. What do you think?
-
@kay There is an Inn to the east of main
-
@kay Also a house of ILL REPUTE that has a less scandalous front parlor for gambling and the like.
But I agree that I'd love more hangout spaces.
-
@lotherio Yeah, I haven't been able to meet mine at all, even if we've tried to match up. I guess we're just two ships adrift in the sea!
-
We'll definitely get more hangouts. Feel free to make suggestions too. The market and gardens are up, the sports/leisure piazzas need to go up. I'd like something with the fashion piazza. There is a seedy tavern up (Wandering Albatross), but something more upscale would be nice too to avoid the docks for some folks. Need to get planned locations out there on the grid.
