Miami, Blood in the Water

I really struggled with the idea of saying anything but we’re a community and if I’m wrong about what happened, I’ll apologize but I feel like this sort of stuff maybe needs to be said.
-
ETA: (Just when the news about SF gets bad, it gets so much worse.)
-
Well if he did take it he didn't do himself any favors with installing the modules and code we all love.
I mean in cg/do spending you can't run a command to see how much a spend will cost. There's no easy access to channels until approved and then there is no good way to look for rp other than talking on pub and or looking like a stalker in the ooc room / using +where.

Someone popped by CoS about two months or so ago and told me as much. Was a guest bit on an unfamiliar IP, alas.
Guest3 pages: He was helping with the new chargen for Miami which is the next incarnation of Fallcoast.
You paged Guest3 with 'and just yanked the flat and bounced?'
Guest3 pages: He had access to the flatfile and took it.
Guest3 pages: Pretty much.
You paged Guest3 with 'fucking gross :/'
Guest3 pages: And then he came back after Sonder popped up on his game and said something.
Long distance to Guest3: Taika just shakes her head
Guest3 pages: But it is part of the reason why the code is jacked.
You paged Guest3 with 'cause it's a bad/incomplete'
Guest3 pages: The original flatfile is comprised of code done by Thenomain, Chime, Cobalt, and Glitch.
Long distance to Guest3: Taika nods
Guest3 pages: But when he took the flatfile, he did not port everything over completely.
You paged Guest3 with 'oahhh, yeah that would do it'
Guest3 pages: So you can still see references to 'The Reach'.
Guest3 pages: Hidden in the various files.
Guest3 pages: There are references to Roanoke and Pompeii.ETA: found the date stamp in Discord. 8/14/18

It does. It really does need to be said.
-
Well, that's the nail.
I'll be surprised if the game doesn't plummet precipitously after this.

Darc began coding for us before he made his own game. One day, Darc was gone and suddenly had San Francisco up which had references about The Reach’s news files. When I asked him how he got all of this stuff, he said that he was building a CG for Miami and was just testing it there. At that time I had not seen the other references to The Reach and have since been approached about Darc taking our flatfile with the shell access he had.
He won’t be on Miami staffing.
Holy shit. This is a total scumbag move and a huge violation of trust. What the fuck.
-
Just to add clarification for anyone unfamiliar with the online aliases - Darc = Gabriel on SF.

Eh.. I'll be surprised if it does.
Most MUers either a) haven't heard of MSB b) don't follow MSB c) won't care anyways

There's also a lack of currently open places to go (although several in the works)

The good news is is that the chargen that is being built is being built by Annapurna from Fates Harvest. But yes, this whole thing was a setback. The staff on Miami are a passionate group who wanna bring out a fun and engaging setting and game to play on.
-
Phew. I was nervous for some reason about bringing this up. I feel pretty validated after seeing that log.
I guess it goes to show that he can’t be trusted with access and that he will lie about it when confronted.
Anyway, I hope to see you guys on Miami soon. ️ We have a Discord and everything.

You called?
...
No, I'm kidding. I don't know if he did or didn't, but if he did, yeah that's a shitty thing to do. If he didn't, well, evidence is not on his side.
I happen not to like Darc as a game-runner, which is why I was going along with the original question. I don't know how many people don't like Darc as a game-runner, but his lack of involvement in Miami means that I will at least log in to check it out.
Either way, best of luck to you guys.

@wretched I said what I said. Burn it all down. Set fire to the hive. Et cetera.
-
@saulot Needs more plane crash.
-
Man, I sure called the shit out of this one.

This is very good news. From what I remember the GC at Fate's Harvest is a breeze to use, and had good documentation throughout. FH's automated XP spending system is great. Also their +sheet colour coding and formatting/wrapping is great. And +ref, and +hedgefruit, and +repose, and +posebreak, and +poseorder, those are great too.
The last three (plus colour/text wrap!) make a huge difference to the flow and readability, which is in essence the playability, of the game. Massive kudos to Annapurna and skew (and whoever else was involved!) for the code on FH. Excited to see how their work manifests on Miami.

@Wretched has told me that he'll be installing all the goodies (or having me, or having me hold his hand, or whatever). So! Yes.
-
@a-meowley Yeah, i am never doing changeling without the +hedgefruit again. And @skew is correct, all the handholding once were ready.

Fate's Harvest, generally, is one of the best-coded places I've ever been at. It practically reduces all of the thought-work and referencing of World of Darkness games into its code-base. For example, Annapurna has pain-stakingly imputed every single available contract into her +reference base, so that you can figure out your roll, catch, cost, and effect without needing to click open a .PDF.
