Kushiel's Debut

@icanbeyourmuse - 10/10, can confirm, in the theme of KD, descriptions are like Poison Dart Frogs.
The prettier they are, the more apt they are to kill you, defame your House, or somehow otherwise politically slit your throat.

I've had both genders, and have had no trouble on either. I haven't really noticed any sort of lack on any of my female characters, that's for sure.
I play a dude. That dude is Raimond. He's awesome.
Time has been a problem for me. Work has been ultra-demanding. But when my playtime slowed, it coincided with my observation that people generally aren't active, or weren't, when I was.
Good game, though. Great RPers. Thumbs up.
-
@Ganymede Seems more active now, and several characters (so probably a fist of people) have taken hard into the political fields.
-
I like KD. People are friendly and +jobs are processed quickly. Those are two benchmarks many games fail at.
-
I did not mean to imply that there was no activity at all. Only that there did not seem to be much when I was around.
-
@Ganymede I figured. I was just updating you.
-
@Ganymede and @HorrorHound .. I now wonder who HH is! And Gany.. I've just been kinda AWOL. Uninspired for character concepts and my Duchess I need to be in a certain place to do. And for my male alt I just need to be in a manly place. You can hang out with any of my chars, though. If we're connected together. Kinda impossible when we're not. Zacharie, Danette, and Corinne are all me.

@Cirno 'descriptions' doesn't always equal oodles of RP. And an FYI I play what appeals to /me/. I have a policy, from my World of Warcraft days, of how I CG. If I gotta look at it's ass it's gonna be good looking.
And to note, the descriptions are3 done to fit with /theme/ as in the books and the game it seems the people of the world are all very good looking. Even the 'average Joes.'
I don't TS all the things, regardless of how I word my descs so for getting loads of attention I utterly fail. No matter how 'sexy' my descs or Played Bys are my lack of interest in opening my legs for anyone who asks is not as inviting.
Danette is a bitch.
Corinne is a flakey ass little thing who holds grudges.
Neither appeal to people outside their looks.
You know what's really funny? 'LeBlanc' means "The White" in French, and Ms. LeBlanc is a white woman. Bahaha.
-
@cirno Shame on you, you made me spit my coffee out with your character analysis. I know, I know, don't feed the trolls, but I did find it funny.

I'm glad! That you laughed, that is, not the coffee. I was, after all, trying to be funny, but, apparently, I botched the delivery a little.
Generally, what people seem to think is hurtful trolling on my part is really only a jocular jest. I fancy myself MSB's Court Jester, in that I provide amusement and nuggets of wisdom.
-
@Cirno Mmm. Nuggets.

April STAFF WANTED Apr 27 2016 Asherat
Happy Late Spring! Here is an update on STAFF WANTEDs with incentives. As always bear in mind that what we most want is for players to create characters they love, whether they fit a 'need' we have or are something else entirely. Play what you want! If you find yourself looking for direction though, here is what staff is looking for and some incentives for picking such a concept up to play:
Nobles: We have had a lot of growth here, but still have a few groups that need more representation
-
Namarre. Namarre could both use some cousins and relatives of the L'Envers family, as well as members of greater and lesser houses. Whether you want a large fancy title or just to be a simple 'lord or lady' as a second or third son, this duchy could use some more representatives for creating great stories. Contact staff, or Dominic or Voltaire if you have questions about what plays well in this House. Bonus: 40
-
Siovale: Both the great House of Perigeux and other greater and smaller noble houses are required in Siovale. This is both to help work on some of the projects going on IC to expand the intellects of society, and projects that go further in this direction. It also works for serving the benefit of Siovale which has been too quiet lately. Contact staff or Geneviere for more information. Bonus: 40
-
Camlach: Though known for fierce warriors due to the harsh conditions of the nation's eastern province, characters from Camlach need not be warrior types. Scholars, Healers, but also nobles that simply know the life of a noble are encouraged. (Female players are encouraged here!) Give it a try. If you want suggestions or more info, contact staff or Reynard. Bonus: 40
Though many of our provinces could use growth in many different ways these are the most pressing areas. There will be a few smaller bonuses below:
-
Morhban: This family needs more activity and allies to keep up the challenge against the Shahrizai. We'll help you set up your character if you require it! Bonus: 20
-
Old people!: Anyone rolling up a char who is 47 years of age or older gets bonus xp based on their 'life experience' (and in thanks for adding some age diversity to our court.) Bonus: 50
Last and Trickiest:
We are looking for some characters for storytelling purposes. Player must be willing to either offer up (or more likely create fresh) a character that is interesting and innovative and also not afraid to suffer major consequences or die. Think of this char as a plot driver you could both enjoy on your own and occasionally bring out to handle scenes for us. If necessary I can provide explanations and suggestions where appropriate. Bonus rp here will depend on the character made and what we'd like to achieve with us! If interested please @mail staff for more information!

I am no longer playing or staffing (I was Eisheth) on KD.
-
@Sunny A story there, or just general burnout?
-
@lordbelh There's a story, but I'm too tired to tell it. I'm not really interested in any more drama than 'hey folks, I don't endorse this anymore'. Sorry, I know dirt is fun.
-
@Sunny I figure if there was a giant warning flag, you'd mention. Since there's not a mention, this is probably the most mature retirement I've seen in an age, so to you.

I play here, and there's been an awful atmosphere of late. Knowing the dirt would probably be more than helpful as people quitting without explanation is incredibly frustrating when stories are affected.
-
Mmm. I had a disagreement with Asherat and Skaldia over how they were handling something. This something is probably why other people are quitting, if they're quitting. I'm not going into that, that's their story to tell, and some people might not find it any problem at all anyway so it's not something I feel like I need to warn anyone about.
But. Asherat shared my conversation with her (staff to staff) with someone else, after I'd logged off and said I was taking a week off to calm down. That someone laid into me on Facebook. Between that and the fact that I no longer feel ethically comfortable endorsing the game due to the original disagreement, I'm done.

I truly don't know all of the events surrounding the 'big game plot' or how that all came together. It was a plot that had been going on for something like two years where all of the Scions lost their powers. When staff picked up this plot again, there was understandably a lot of interest. A couple of people I spoke to stated that they were given the run-around in jobs regarding the plot. I'm not entirely sure how much truth there is to that.
Anyways - fast-forward a couple/a few months. There was a big social event that was nearly mandatory for people to attend the evening they decided to resolve the plot. The staff alts of Ash and Shem along with a small cadre of friends and a couple of people they rounded up at the last minute snuck out of the party to resolve the big game plot while everyone else was stuck at said party and was barred from participating in any shape or form. Keep in mind that this is following some frustration people had about staff giving them the run-around.
This was the straw that had me quitting the game. Not out of anger, mind you. I am just not inclined to play a game where staff, their alts, and their +1's are the only ones not discouraged from participating in the game's plot. Particularly a game where some staffers are purposefully lying to certain members of their player base. Teasing with plot and then withdrawing and claiming to 'not know that much' in the case of Shem on her alt.
I quit because I simply don't agree with this style of running a game. I have since started playing on a couple of other games I have had a completely different and positive experience with, so I honestly don't have a horse in this race. If you're asking in earnest -why- people quit, though, this would be the 'why' as far as I know.
-
Whelp, sorry, @surreality, I've lost my ability to be mature about this.
I just received this e-mail from Skaldia, titled 'Good Riddance'. Me.
I cannot keep quiet on this any longer. I was trying to keep quiet, and hoping you would do the same, but apparently you just can’t help yourself. I refuse to apologize to you, or to give in to your “demand” that we apologize to the playerbase. First, the Longest Night is not “fluff”, it is the biggest social event of the IC year for the setting. The fact that another small scene was taking place at the same time to wrap up a plot that has been going on for almost two years, or maybe more, does not change that. And that small scene was not all “staff alts”, as you claimed, but the scene was small because given the nature of it, and IC attitudes toward the occult in the setting, it made sense that there would not be many people involved. If logic offends you so much that you have to throw this sort of hissy fit, that is your problem, not mine. Not everyone will be involved in every plot, so you really should get over yourself. In your jobs, and Aviana’s, and Lanval’s, no mention was made of looking into a way to undo the ritual. It was all stuff about the Yeshuites in the city, whether they were possibly going to cause trouble or had Black Cross leanings. It is not Asherat’s fault, nor Shemhazai’s, nor mine, that none of you were clear about what you were wanting from those jobs.
And if this was, as you said, a matter of other issues coming to a head, then why did no one, including you, bring those issues to my attention before having a temper tantrum and rage-quitting? Too cowardly? Or would that not feed your martyr complex enough? This is the biggest issue, for me, with the way that you and your little posse left the game. Not one of you had it in you to bring your complaints to the attention of the headwiz. Not one. Instead, you stayed in your little echo chamber, where you could complain without other voices present to explain what was going on or that could possibly do something about your issues. Then you leave in the middle of an event you were supposed to be running, without a word to me or Asherat? Your nattering about ethics is so hypocritical at this point it nearly makes me want to vomit. This is why your characters were in the freezer, because there was no way in Hell I was going to be able to put up with you in the game any longer. Go infect some other game with your toxicity, please.
