Very little plot.
Staff is next to nonexistent, having no real presence on the game unless you're in their play circle RPing with their alts (The Royalty).
When Asherat does actually get involved in running the game, she does not do well. The game has too many players for her to manage in what little plot there is.
Skaldia... well, you saw. Don't need to go into that, obviously.
Umm...not even going to touch staff favoritism. Play the game or don't. Draw your own conclusion. But there you have it. This is why I think KD is a bad game. That Martin's friggin' player @deadculture popped in to bait people and make veiled threats at me is really a testament to what you're in for playing here. Staff won't bully you directly. They'll get their buddies to do it for them.

And for the record, @Sunny, I got a response. I'll tell you exactly what I told her: that the reason Emma broke up with Martin was fucking ridiculous and had a double-standard, that I thought she played the field while expecting him to ... what, be 100% dedicated? I was very fucking confused at the pointed pages at the time too, when we sorted that thing out.
And the boring remark? It was about my life. Clearly the part where I went on to talk about being bored with life itself wasn't copy pasted. That's okay, I guess.

@Monogram It was a good shot, but as worthless as the rest. I have merely been an asshole to an asshole. You reap what you sow, and I could have tried harder, yes. But there was no need. My part was easy to play.
@Jaded Oh, staff there is terrible. I've realized that for some time. I tended to steer clear of staff and their buddies on that game and fly under the radar for that very reason.
I just finally realized I should have never given the game a second chance. I'm glad I did because I met some cool folks. The game itself? Hasn't changed, won't change. If you like a social fluff sandbox, it's totally for you. If not, keep moving.

Let's pull out some undisputed facts: 2-year plot; limited seats "at the table"; game-wide effect. I hope you can see why other long-term players might be miffed at being excluded.
There was a million ways to address this maturely. Apparently, no one has decided to take it. Staff should never, ever hide behind "I didn't know there was a problem."

Seems like they knew it would be a problem, since they scheduled it during a huge thing that would hopefully keep people occupied, and didn't at all acknowledge they were starting the limited availability scene.

I'm going with @Skaldia's line that he had no idea there was a problem, and that there was some sort of sewing circle of complainers.
I've been doing this for a long time. On a game where there are staff alts, I find it very difficult to believe that there were no signs of trouble.

This is what I'm looking at as the 'lesson' to take away from this thread. (Not saying 'y'all need to learn a thing', I'm saying this is what I'm going to keep in mind after reading about what went down here for myself.)
Mostly, if something has broad interest and impact, create space for more involvement.
I am not super familiar with the setting, but I would think there could have been something like 'oh, each X gets 2-4 representatives' rather than one only, perhaps, and it is a small enough change conceptually that probably would have gone a long way to preventing this from becoming an issue. That, or 'each only one needs X support people around them for special tasks X, Y, and Z also'. Something. There's always going to be something.
Is that a nightmare hassle to organize and arrange? Well, yeah, a lot more than getting five people together is. But if you have a two-year time frame to wrangle that it, sooner or later there's gonna be a window that will allow for it.
As a former Firan player, I am finding this to be funny, but it's time to finally weigh in on some stuff.

First, this quote. I'm not picking on you directly @Echx, but your post is the one that presents the easiest way of addressing the problems. Why were there a limited number of seats? It's a game. The ritual being performed is a figment of imagination, not something taken from some great grimoire of magical spells that exists in reality. They could have easily made the ritual be having everyone in the city gather around the tree and sing kumbaya, if they wanted.
There were a limited number of seats at the table because the hosts decided that was the number of seats they wanted at the table to begin with. Those participating could have had Seconds standing by in case they passed out from blood loss to take over for them. Ta-da! I have effectively doubled the number of participants using the current design of the ritual in a manner that completely makes sense, so I'm not stretching suspension of disbelief to make it happen. And it took me all of 5 seconds to think of it.
Did you read that bit in Skaldia's (pretty irate) mail wherein neither you, nor Aviana, nor Lanval, made any mention of looking into a way to undo the ritual, which is the only thing that happened at this scene? Seriously, how were you being shut out? The Black Cross is still a problem. Hasn't gone away. There's still piles of things to be done, glory to be won, accolades to be acquired, if people do things.
That is baloney. I have OOCly spoken to some people involved in the Aviana side of trying to resolve this plot (I am not mentioning names since they may not want to be dragged into this), and it was pretty clear that the jobs they were doing were related to the ritual. The method they had uncovered involved something with symbols and having to locate them and unravel them in the proper manner so they don't kill you. I mean, that sounds pretty much dead on for 'trying to undo the ritual' when the responses they get for the +requests are 'this is how you undo the ritual.'
Either way, I am having fun on KD and plan to stick around, but I have an advanced degree from Firan U in How to Make Your Own Fun.
Without really commenting on the drama that is a lot of fun to popcorn, I will say that this reinforces my decision to take a pass on the game. This is despite having a couple people ask me to come join them there or go make new characters on it (since there's such a lack of L&L right now).
I would also really emphasize the lack of staff presence. I encountered this when trying to chargen, there just seemed to be 0 new player support at all. It doesn't seem much a stretch that if they can't bother to engage new players they're probably not going to be running plots for them either.
