@apos I can confirm there are several people, myself included, who no longer find it productive to even mention criticisms about games you and Hellfrog are involved in. Those players either attempt to avoid your attention or opt not to play games you have significant say in.
Is that something you should consider?

Maybe Spider could help at Arx, and then we'd see if she and HF are similar.
lol nah, not really. If you feel there's no point to your criticisms feel free to save em.

I really, really don't want to get into a whole situation where we're doing the whole toxic positivity thing that we see so many gamers do to each other, where we police all criticism unless its is worded in the most gentle glowing tones about games and their runners or people can get the hell out and die lonely and alone at the edge of the universe.
This board exists to call out bad behavior of which there is plenty, possibly too much in this hobby because all of the shit that goes on thrives in darkness and disconnection. So, it's shitposting. It's shitposting for an ultimately good cause even if it has to set shit on fire to clear the weeds out. With this comes people who are bad actors or are more often, horribly nearsighted about their own behavior and don't see how they've contributed poorly to situations. I can point out one specific incident that happened recently and actually concerned my character on a game. The decision to not clapback was based on the fact that the person doing the shitposting has their own history of bad behavior and ultimately, it didn't matter what I said back. People would decide that they were being horribly persecuted or like, perhaps maybe... they're just not lying but in fact more than a little self-deluded about cause and effect.
I think we need to give ourself more credit to smell bullshit when its bullshit, even if we don't clapback.

Also I tried to do the whole 'here's a list of games' thing. I keep meaning to get back to it.
But I got a job man that likes to shove me on airplanes and shit.
And friends (allegedly) who are mostly sure I am not a stack of cats wearing a trenchcoat. So, I tried man. I tried. Sorry.
ETA: The constantly rotating GIF above me of Cap America throwing the arrow is a) huge and b) annoying as fuck because it is constantly rotating. Constructively, I request that people maybe not put up pagewide gifs or shit that literally never stops animating?

I think if they are avoiding Spirit Lake because they mistakenly thought I was involved when I'm not says more about them than it does about me.
This was not at all being inferred.
What you did say here is that if several people are in agreement about someone, it's about them and not the someone. Which is opposite of what you suggested about SL staff. That is why I brought it up.
It's just not a handy algorithm, and can easily become self serving.
This was my only concern.

I move to rename this thread the Marvel Upvote Gif Thread.
-
Hold up, I'm noticing threads being locked up and discussions popping up, so a conclusion was formed but no official word with an announcement as to the new way we gonna do things? I just care about transparency here is all @Arkandel

Based on a comment made at one point of 'waiting to hear back from <a thread owner>,' I believe Arkandel was asking the game owners if they wanted their ad threads locked down to just the ad post and the discussion moved to a new thread. I don't think he's just going ahead and doing it without go-ahead.
In which case I think that's okay. It's always kinda been forum policy that a thread owner can ask to have their thread locked, moved, etc.

@auspice Thanks for the reply!

@auspice There is somewhat of a difference between "ask us and we'll close it" and "we're asking if you want it closed."

This is true. I'm just pointing out that it's not being done without the permission of the thread owner is all. My guess is that since the rules of the section do state that attacks on games aren't allowed and a few threads had those and went wildly off topic... Ark might have opted to do some housekeeping.

I made a post about this in this thread but it probably should have been somewhere more visible than that.
Recently active ad threads were forked; the initial post remained in the Ads section, locked and editable by their originator, and the rest of the posts were placed in the Mildly Constructive forum under their own thread.
It's going to be the way we do it going forward, at the very least until we do have a wiki but possibly after that too (although I'll look for a way to dynamically tie the locked ad threads into the wiki content in that case, since @faraday had a point in saying she wants to check one place for content instead of two).

Double post! The comment was about nodebb not providing a convenient way to fork only the original post of a thread but you need to manually click on every other post to fork them into a new one.
Since the HorrorMU thread was pretty active, and recent, I asked Botulism if she didn't mind making a 'new' ad thread instead, which I then locked, and moved the original thread to the Discussions forum. It was really all just basic housekeeping - and how we're doing this going forward.

To add more tyranical news to the mix, apparently locked threads can't be edited by the OP either.
So I won't be locking such threads, but just (?) forking any posts made in them directly over to their corresponding discussion threads... but please refrain from making any such posts unless you're the OP and you want to signal actual news (i.e. "the game is now open!" or whatever).
See why a wiki is better, g'dammit?
