What Types of Games Would People Like To See?

To be entirely honest this is my game selection process.

1. Check for dealbreaker genres. It's just purely personal preference, but for example I've never liked sci-fi MU other than Star Wars because lightsabers.

2. Is the game ran by sane people?

3. Do I think the game will survive more than a couple of months?

4. Will the game draw more than 15-20 unique logins so there is RP available?

5. (Optional) Is anyone I know already playing there so I have an easier time finding RP?

If all those conditions are met I'm typically going to give it a try. Bonus points for cool new code (Ares has led to an emergence of that) but I wouldn't go play if the rest of it isn't in place.

As you can see it all has fairly little to do with daring new concepts - they help, but it's not a top priority at all.

Afterthought: I would come back to mushing to play this idea so long as I could write PSAs as Roadblock.

I don't know that there's been a pure GI Joe MU but there is Transformers Universe MUX that has both GI Joe and Transformers.

A few years back I ran a short Black Ops campaign that involved invading Cobra Island after ruining Destro's presentation at an arms trade show and it was a hoot. We learned the fun way how valuable helmets and windshields are in GURPS, as one character lived through 4 deagle shots after an ambush in his safehouse garage.

I seriously think this idea has legs, especially if you add some modern concepts in like Roller Derby Girls, The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, and EXTREME VAMPIRE LARPERZ

This is also a good time to plug a game made by a guy I met. It's called "Wild in the Streets" and is a Mordheim-styled small squad minis game about street gangs duking it out.

They have gangs such as: Roller Derby Girls, skinhead punks, black metal corpsepaint guys, Goths, etc...

I once pondered if a Thundarr style game could be fun, and I like Zard Oz (even with Sean Connery whistling his s's). Much of the theme behind Thundarr is roughly the same, crazy gangs of humans/mutants in some post-apocalyptic setting.

I'm more the story telling type over wanting game/dice/system. I think the concept, or some variation, could have traction both ways. Politics between the gangs, reasons for conflict for turf and resources. I think it could have some traction.

I've been jonesing for a Thundarr or He-man style game for years. I almost did one using FATE Accelerated but it did not go well with my test group who could not wrap their heads around the narrative focus of the system.

@Arkandel I am not even sure I have a length of projected run standard anymore. To some degree I wish I had more bandwidth to play more games so I could support the experiments and sure why the hell not let's have fun while it lasts stuff, that is the only thing that keeps me from trying out interesting stuff. I would love to have a short lived but intensely fun run than spending months and months and months trying to break into a more stable place for uncertain acceptance/inclusion. But I can see why someone else with the time limits that I have might gravitate towards more stable games instead (since in theory the time invested wouldnt go to waste if things come to an abrupt end!).

I only have two reasons for caring about longevity at this point.

1. I hate CGen and I'm not a big fan of staff scrutinizing and nitpicking applications in general, so if it takes me 2 hours to do that - unfun - parts and only get 4 hours of fun out of it before the game dies down it's a poor investment.

2. I want some payoff for my characters' arcs. I have too many of them sitting in a Google Docs folder who barely got played before their games bit the dust - and it's actually worse if I take a liking to them in that time. But once everyone I know stops logging on everything crumbles. I've hit that point so many times that it's discouraging because it's not even overt when one of my regular partners doesn't log on for a couple of days, then maybe another as I'm not sure at first if it's a pattern or just RL.

I really don't expect games to be around for years - can they give me six months of a healthy playerbase? Because if I suspect otherwise then I won't commit, either.

@Ghost @ZombieGenesis There was a GI Joe MUSH that I ran for a year or so around 2007. It used the WEG-based D6 system mostly as a path of least resistance. It had quite a bit of coded objects to facilitate the "smashing action figures against each other" atmosphere, where you could quickly jump in a HISS and fire lasers and your enemy and then leap out and kickbox or whatever. Then, between scenes, you could easily heal back up if desired. (After all, how long does someone really stay "down for the count" in the GI Joe universe, other than Duke for part of the movie?)

It was a lot of fun, all in all, and I've thought about spinning it back up, but I don't know if anyone would show up for it.

@fatefan I remember that game. I'd play on it as much as I'm able to play on any game(1-3 times a week for a few hours a night). I think it could be good action-y fun.
