All 3 of my older kids are now at their respective college/universities as of this afternoon. I love seeing them ve excited. Got to hang with my eldest a little more since he wasn't feeling 100 percent after dental work recovery from the day before yesterday and thus asked for some help setting up his dorm room today. Was fine on the drive home maybe because my youngest kid was in the car. But now the house feels so much more empty. I miss them all already.
Lots of changes everywhere in the last few days.

A kitten we fostered died today.

I'm so sorry. Do you want to talk about it, or is it still too soon?
-
Right now I'm just trying to focus on the fact that he had a good life - much much better than the hoarding situation he came from. He had a cat BFF in the ragdoll of the woman who adopted him, and a mommy who loved him.
-
@silverfox Those are good things to focus on. Thank you for making your baby's life so good.

Now that I have had my crying jag about it, I had a pretty bummer day at work today which was ok but what really turned the day into a shitty day was my van dying on the way home.
Tow costs unexpected car costs, I was already out a week of work due to workplace injury a couple of weeks ago. We have 3 tuition bills to pay. Im stressed. But what I cried about is potentially telling one of my kids I can't come visit him at school (I had to miss his university family weekend because of my stupid workplace injury!!! We had rescheduled for this sunday) Until the van is fixed.
I miss my kids and I fucking hate worrying about $$$ and my leg i hurt at work is very painful bc of workday plus extra time on my feet trying to figure out the damn car.

I'm not a parent, but being unable to see your kid seems like a good reason to start your eyeballs leaking.

Why do we not all have jetpacks yet, WE WERE PROMISED JETPACKS IN THE FUTURE.
Really sorry friend.
Car troubles are one of the most stressful and bullshitty things to deal with, and to confirm: yes, not being able to see your kid is THE worst.

Hrm? Jetpacks already exist!
But no one promised we'd all have one. Like everything else expensive toys go to those who can afford them.
-
@arkandel We were also promised hoverboards! And those WERE promised to one and all! Even small children in a relatively small town of the 'future' had them!

@arkandel I will be satisfied when they are available at Walmart.
-
@too-old-for-this They will be but only in a ten pack.

Look at them chonky cheeks!

I'm too old for a jetpack. I would not mind a flying recliner chair though. I have had dreams about that before.

It doesn't fly, but what about a La-Z-Boy you can drive with a playstation controller?
-
@mietze I've dreamed about it ever since Professor Farnsworth used his to break into Area 51 and steal back the remains of Bender's body.
