Yes, that list!! Thank you.

I narc-ed on some children who didn't finish their test today by texting their parents. At the end I included, "If you have questions call me at X."
Ten minutes later I get a phone call.
child "Hello Mrs."
Mrs. "Hey Y, what's up? How can I help you?"
child "I think you know..."
Mrs. "Yup! Let's get that math test open."
I've had a panic attack every day for the last week, but this made me laugh so I'm gonna cling to it.

I am no longer allowed to intentionally message my boss to make her laugh while she is in another meeting.
Reminds me of that list, the "Scrappy is no longer allowed to..." or whatever it was. >.>
The 213 things Skippy is no longer allowed to do in the US Army
(I think of this list often.)
I had a large chunk of this list memorized when I was with an Army NCO/IC. But the one I will always remember is not singing 'High Speed Dirt' during Airborne missions.

oh fuck, I'm sorry. Thank you for reporting it anyway.
-
@aria I'm sorry someone was an ass enough to put you into this spot. Thank you for doing it.
-
Bitch, how are you gonna sleep through your shift, then get mad at me because I did all your work? "Why didn't you wake me up" my ass. If I have to wake you up, then I have to accept responsibility for your work getting done, and if I have to accept responsibility for your work getting done, then I accept full responsibility for your work getting done!

So today is our gift giving exchange Zoom party at work.
Me being the ball of people pleasing anxiety, knowing how much not getting something you like sucks, seasonal depression - I went hard. I asked multiple people what my recipient likes, and took it and ran with it.I overspent the guideline, I think, but I blame my ADD for not being able to choose between the candle that donates to animal rescues, and the wine glass that says "Wine and cats, because people suck" . (The feedback I got from everyone, is that she likes wine and cats.)
Then I sent my boss a giftcard to Dunkin', because he's always drinking their coffee like a madman. And my boss is amazing, the best boss I have ever, ever had. He deserved to know, right?
I got my secret santa package thing, and.. well, when you pick it up, it sloshes and feels like a liquor bottle. I told my boss, laughing, and he sounded disappointed.
Then my email went off. He sent me an Amazon gc, telling me he appreciates what I do. I'm currently fighting tears. Honestly the best boss.

@macha - It was not, in fact, booze. She got me gift cards for my favorite video game, and a bottle of Mtn Dew.
-
.> NGL this is why I almost always opt out of this kind of thing.
I remember one year my husband participated and he DID get a bottle of wine.
This despite being openly Mormon (aka, we don't drink.) I made him pour it down the drain as soon as he got home.

Seems a waste? I would have just re-gifted it to one of your non-Mormon friends or something.
-
@silverfox See, I don't drink often, anymore. I was on meds that made drinking a pretty big no-no and a diabetic besides. I think that's why my boss was like "She sent you what?" lol
The Dew was not diet, so my roommate got it.
-
I mean - I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with that. I won't sit and look down on you as you drink, but I'm also not going to also provide ways to drink either.

Okay, I need a reality check here.
Interview was on Thursday. I sent my thank you note about an hour later, with an attachment of something I made when my department was having a similar to problem to one they mentioned.
Since then, both interviewers have replied to my thank you note - which is not something I've ever experienced before - saying how nice it was to meet me. One told me to let her know if I have any questions.
That's a really good sign, right? I'm not overanalyzing and looking for signals that aren't there?
-
@aria For starters, I've never actually sent thank you notes after an interview, the thought has literally never occurred, but in hindsight, that's a really good idea.
Secondly, the fact that they replied to you? Well, I certainly don't think it's bad. At best, they'll appreciate the gesture and remember it when they choose the person for the job. At worst, they simply approved of your professionalism and returned in kind.
I don't really see a drawback here, either way.
-
@aria So I am someone who also stresses over whether or not things are going good enough that I have a chance at the job I've applied for. But then, I also remember... people who aren't interested in you professionally don't tend to reach back out. Or at best, they'll send you a form letter/email/voicemail stating that they thank you for your time but they've decided to move in a different direction or are pursuing other candidates. So I would take any sort of personal response as a good sign.
-
@aria I think it's a good sign. Also, FWIW, I definitely got hired at one job because I emailed the interviewer afterward with a solution to a problem (in this case one that wasn't even 'real', just part of the interview, but I thought of a better way to do it on my way home). Good luck!

I'm tired.
Since December of 2019 I have been working with a client of mine to serve as a receiver for a company that needed to be reorganized without hitting the bankruptcy court. On Thursday, the owner of the company elected to file for bankruptcy.
We warned everyone this could happen. We warned everyone that if we spent even a day in bankruptcy, all of our vendors would terminate their services. We warned everyone that if the owner of the company tried to take control again, everyone would fight to get as far away from the company as possible.
Well, the interim CEO resigned today. The billing company is out. We're dead in the water. One year of work, down the drain.
Don't mind me, I need to grouse.
-
I discovered today that I have the privilege of going out and telling a homeowner that all the money they spent to put up fencing that we said would fix the problem was all for naught, because the RV that they need to put the fencing around is still too close to the right of way, so they're going to have to move the RV off-site. Not only that, but apparently this homeowner has brandished a firearm at individuals before.
