@Auspice Really if you have to toggle that it usually just means your templates are inadequate.
I do not disagree, but unfortunately corporate life often means 'too bad, work within the framework of what we have.'
<insert long stare at the publishing suite I have to use for this training guide.>

@Roz Or it's a 'the developer added this in as a quick fix to automate something they were doing for their own shit and didn't remove it at the end or didn't bother to think other people did things a different way'.
-
I'm putting my money on 'we didn't think of this use case until after the website redesign was finished and didn't want to pay the developer more to futz it, so came up with a minor workaround (that is easy for a new person to miss entirely)'.
-
@Roz Or, a 'we wouldn't need to automate this default if SOMEONE didn't keep forgetting to format things this way, KAREN'.

DEAR ASSOCIATE:
If you're actually sick this often, you should probably go to a doctor; it's concerning. However, since you always seem to be getting sick either the day before or after one of your days off, I might suspect that you're just a lazy malingering asshole who expects other people to pick up the slack or stay late whenever you're not feeling like working. (And since you're a 21-y-o kid who lives in your mom's house, I genuinely suspect you might not be aware that "job" means "you have to go even if you're not feeling it.")
DEAR OTHER ASSOCIATE:
Why. Would. You. Wear. The. Merchandise. You. Stole. Into. Work.

Wait, what?! This needs a story!

I second this. This needs a story.

I worked with a guy like this once. 21. Never showed up to his Friday shifts.
Acted all shocked and confused when I called him out on it and how I was sick of working his hours.
"But my friends ask me out. What am I supposed to do, tell them no?"
Yes. Yes you are.

don't tell me to use this term instead of that term because 'we're transitioning to this new definition' and then later review the material I've written and say 'oh no, use this term instead'
especially don't do this for three separate things.

You could get with this or you could get with that.

Submission day for my module. 60 students. Submission point IT is down.
All of them are phoning/emailing/visiting me in a panic.

Snow day!
Had to be on a call anyway to keep a project moving, but my boss kept it brief and I got to stay in my pjs. And it looks like snow starting at 4 again today.
I love working somewhere we close when the school does.

I think I might need to call in tomorrow to calm nerves. Every day I have gone in to work despite road conditions, and then end up being held up, and the weather deteriorates before I have to leave. I love my coworkers, but I had to hike up hill after (safely, out of the way) abandoning my car at the base of a hill and hiking into my neighborhood (in my bank clothes) yesterday and almost had to do the same today (thank goodness for a well timed placement of a patch that had been shoveled to the pavement to dig out a car that gave me enough of a run to make the final ascent) and I think I'm going to just not chance it tomorrow if the roads are at all icy.
Still dealing with flu complications and this fucking job is barely above minimum wage, so I think I'm just gonna choose safety and no palpitations tomorrow, and stay home.

Just had a really positive phone interview for a job that'd pay really well and have good benefits.
Here's hoping I make it to the face to face. I can usually ace those.
-
4-16 hour days straight because of mandatory overtime. I called in sick the fifth day. The double time should help my paycheck, though.
-
Patch your stuff today. Like, today.

Someone put up posters all over work for a fundraiser they're doing for Australia.
And I'm like.
This is cool what you're doing but covering the poster with glamor shots of yourself plus like, two stock koala photos is weird and means I am prob just gonna look for an official foundation thanks.(p.s. Australia is more than just koalas.)
