We're refreshing email to see who is off sick with COVID, now we aren't wearing masks with students who are caring for COVID patients. 50% and counting...

I hate state testing~~
I hate giving it.
I hate talking about it.
Everything about it is terrible.
But we're doing good getting make ups and such finished, so hopefully the children will all be back at least one day between now and Tuesday so we can go back to "normal".

Standardized testing feels like such a sham. Like, there's a mountain of research that says all of this is crap and yet we just keep chugging along.

My job Oi. My supervisor was requested to change some punches that had been wrong on my time card. She did not. I had to be out of work while our ISP came to look at our system, and she did not put in my PTO for that day.
So my paycheck is over 200 dollars short, because of crap I can not fix or do, and she chose not to. I am furious.

Was physically assaulted and mildly injured at work yesterday. It is a pretty normal thing in nursing, especially in my specific area of nursing. It is not the first time, it won't be the last time.
But I am a little in a burn out phase of nursing and getting the shit beat out (but I am okay, to be clear on that) of me didn't really help..
Thinking more and more that it is time to move on. That the leaders at my job are not doing enough (or anything at all) to keep nursing staff safe and they couldn't give af at the corporate level. I could easily make $20+ more an hour and probably in less dangerous settings and work my hours around some up coming things I need to be there for this summer.
On the other hand - I have this intense sense of loyalty toward my patients and place of work that makes it hard for me to leave, especially since some of them I nursed through covid twice and since I almost died in the battle. There is this..its hard to explain almost war time loyalty! Like we are in the trenches together, we almost died together, some didn't make it.
Then again I am only one of few still in this trench. We got have no nursing management that was there in early covid and we have only 5 floor nurses including myself who are the same.
We got only 2 nurse managers one started yesterday. We are staffed by about 90 percent agency staff who work day by day.
I am like should I really stay in this trench alone, on a sinking ship at this point?
And the answer is, I don't know.

It does really irk that American culture is so /whatever/ who cares when it comes to the rise in assaults and violence against nurses. -

I deleted but it all comes down to something needs to be done about violence against health care workers - I am not sure what needs to be done or how to do it, but it cannot continue like it is.

Doesn't sound like that to me. Sounds like the answer is 'No' and you're well aware of that. So the question is really "Are you going to stay anyway?" How unhappy do you have to get before you say enough?

I would argue, dead serious, that staying on a sinking ship is worse than self-destructive: it teaches the ship's captain that they can let the ship keep sinking because fuck it, you'll bail it out for them, so they may as well bring in some more bodies to drown down in the hold after you've gone under for the third time.

Quit. Just walk away. Every nurse that faces this kind of violence should just plain up and quit. And when panicking managers start asking why, be blunt and up-front: the job you love is not worth risking violence over.
Optionally, take it to the press after you quit. Name names. Make as huge a stink as you can muster. Make sure you have the receipts to cover the incidents. Perhaps in the lead-up to quitting, start carrying or concealing cameras. (Ideally these should be cameras that record straight into the cloud so that even when discovered the footage is already out of reach.) Share the footage with the news agencies (and let their lawyers decide which faces need to be blurred to protect the innocent and which faces need to be put front and centre while a voice-over describes their deeds to name and blame the guilty). Be especially careful to document uncaring management attitudes: gather your emails and (ideally) paper documents to show that management doesn't give a shit.
Basically make the hospital admins wear tight shoes until they figure out what's what.
And if that's too much work (and I wholly agree that it would be too much for many people!), then the most important point remains: Quit. Just walk away.

This does suck. Who does that?
Upside, I just checked the job postings on LinkedIn and there are at least twenty postings for a react and/or front end developer just in my city. A few of them completely remote. I donβt think you should have issues finding options.
