One of my babies posted this on our learning management system today, and I am so sad that I can't give her a hug.

I'm torn.
So I can take a month off without pay and maybe get unemployment. Maybe.
I can wait to get said virus and get two weeks off paid
I can self-quarantine for that month and yeah.
The problem is I work with public in close area. My business won't be closed. I have an auto-immune disease that wipes out my immune system whenever it wants. However, I don't have any symptoms. I don't feel the need. I just am not sure and I am upset that I'm not sure which way to go.
Maybe this should go in health, but it's my job and my income I'm worried about.
@RightMeow Having to make those kinds of decisions sucks, and you have my sympathy. I wish that we had more of a nationwide mandate to close things down and a support system for everyone right now. Individuals shouldn't have to decide between public/personal safety and putting food on the table.
But given what you said - FWIW, it sounds like you are in a high-risk category. The risk is not "wait to get said virus and get two weeks off paid" it's more like "wait to get the virus and then hope you don't have to spend the next month on a ventilator in the ICU -- that is providing there are any more ventilators available at the time."
Also, even though you might feel fine now, latest evidence shows that people can be infectious without symptoms for days - possibly up to 2 weeks. That's what makes this virus so insidious. There are tens of thousands of people out there right now spreading it around without even knowing it. That's why social distancing is so important. #Don'tBeASpreader
So my county is in state of emergency, and they can not seem to decide if we're working from home or not. I was supposed to know by the end of business Tuesday, but it seems not.
Like @RightMeow - I have autoimmunes - and am on a chemo drug which leaves me super vulnerable. I've been TRYING to get word so I could be set up to work from home. Been doing everything I can to make sure when/if they let it happen, it's all super quick and smooth.
Just so frustrated and afraid, because my lungs are not the best to begin with, and that's my big phobia - the idea of suffocation. I know WHY I have the phobia, but that doesn't stop it. So the pneumonia sort of part of things... big fear.
Why can't my bosses get their heads out of their collective ass?

off-topic but do you ever have dreams about literally coughing up a lung?
Ever since I went through a month-long bout of pneumonia as a kid that fucked up my lungs, I have that nightmare at least once a year. I just wonder if it's one anyone else has, too.
@Auspice Yes. I have it a couple times a year, generally after I've been sick.
As for work - I went into the office because my boss hadn't gotten the email... only to have the email and have to forward it to him and be sent home.

I am getting all kinds of texts from very bored coworkers. Apparently we have been shut down to drive thru only,plus appointments for safe deposit box entrance. So at least when/if I get cleared to go back to work I will feel a little safer doing so.

We saw it coming and did some prep work, but still. Phew. Just today getting to normal to-do list stuff.
Still waiting on the code I need for the app to get my tokens to log in every day.
Got a nastygram email from the team twat about how my enrollments this morning hadn't been checked ... I replied "Well, since I can't log into the system, I won't be checking them until I get in."
Bleh.
A coworker just ignored me. Called my supervisor to ask them a question I knew the answer to but the supervisor did not.
Wakes up supervisor. Supervisor tells them to ask me. They get huffy and just do their own thing.

Sounds like garden variety childishness.
This has been one of the most utterly draining weeks I have ever gone though. I've been sleeping ³-⁴ hours a night because my anxiety won't let me fall asleep and envelops me the second I am stirred awake. I've had to completely redesign my teaching on almost zero warning and act as tech support (my god you guys are amazing) for my 26 little humans and their parents. I'm crushed that I can't see them and be there. It is like a stab every time I see a video where they talk about how much they miss school and one another. I want nothing more than for us to be back together again and for everything to go back to normal again.
But I got a few emails from parents at the tail end of today that meant the world to me. Not super long, just saying thank you for this week. I've felt so much like I am failing my students that hearing them say that means everything to me.
I'm glad this next week is break. I'll finally have a chance to breathe and maybe catch up. My prayer is that it will only be till April 17, but I want to set things up for if this has to be a lot longer.

Someone went into the office today to get a fax and went to save it to the cloud for me.

I come into work today to find there's construction workers working in the building. Touching things. Ignoring social distancing. 'Construction is considered essential' their boss says. Motherfuckers are -installing countertops in an unused office space-. Same for the assholes at WeWork. They stay open and there's random dudebros touching all the doors, ignoring distancing and going all over the place.
I am legit just not patrolling the building today. Fuck that. Gonna stay here. And sanitize.

But the intent behind construction being 'essential' was to ensure things that are needed (additional social services infrastructure or housing or...) can still get done. Not.......letting your crew fuck around on a job no one needs rn. 
Now. I do think you could report the practices of the crew if they aren't being safe.
